Troy looked around the room completely baffled. People were starting to laugh awkwardly, not entirely sure what to make of the dramatic scene that just unfolded in front of them.
After Sarah ran out of the room Claire quickly grabbed the sketchbook off the projector and glared at Miss Newberry. Claire was now sitting alone at her table with the book thrown on the table in front of her seething. The need for her best friends' secrecy was lost. There was no more need to protect her work since apparently it was okay for the whole school to know about her personal thoughts and feelings.
Troy reached forward and grabbed the book to take a closer look. The picture was amazing. It really was an accurate representation of him, down to the random freckle on the left side of his nose.
Troy looked desperately between Claire and Roger, who still had not spoken, before asking, "Is this true?" Confusion was plastered over his face. He still was not sure what to make of the whole situation.
"I don't know what to tell you," Claire replied angrily trying to grab the book back from him. Troy did not let it go.
James was chuckling to himself, "Dude that's so weird, Sarah clearly has it bad for you! Isn't she like Roger's sister?" He nudged Troy with his elbow jokingly, who in turn hit him with the book.
Troy turned to Roger, pleading for an answer, "Dude trust me when I say this, Sarah's most raw feelings are in that book. Whatever you decide to do with it is on you, but please don't hurt her." Roger finally said choosing his words carefully.
"Rog, I know she's one of your best friends and all but..." Troy sighed, "I just need space." And with that Troy got up from the table and made his way out of the door as fast as he could.
"TROY DON'T YOU DARE LEAVE THIS CLASSROOM!" Miss Newberry yelled when she realized she had crossed a line.
He turned around furious, "Go ahead give me detention, I'll just let everyone know that you are in fact sleeping with the students. As for what we previously discussed consider it canceled. You crossed a line here." He huffed leaving the classroom.
Claire shared a knowing look with Roger and stood up to address the class, "You clowns better not breathe a word of this to anyone." And she followed Troy out of the classroom, knowing full well that her threat was useless, and the gossip was probably already well on its way around the school.
As Claire reached the door Miss Newberry tried again, "Miss Thomas please inform your friends that you all will be receiving detention for this." The threat held little merit and Claire did not care.
"Get a life," Claire rolled her eyes before slamming the door shut behind her.
Out in the hall Claire caught up with Troy, it looked like he was trying to determine which way to go. Claire shoved him into a locker wrapping her fist around his shirt. Leaning close she threatened, "If you hurt her, I will hurt you!"
Troy shoved her off, "Do you seriously think I am that big of a dick?" He retorted. "Because if you do you have another thing coming Claire. If I would have known that your friend liked me as much as this book clearly states," He waved the sketchbook back in her face, "Then maybe today would not have happened. I knew she liked me, but I assumed it was a petty crush like everyone else in this dam school! No one deserves to be humiliated like that!"
"Can your ego really be that big?" Claire rolled her eyes, "There are people in this school who can not stand you."
"You are not listening, are you? What I'm saying is I have always had a soft spot for Sarah." Troy admitted before adding, "Now leave me alone." He started walking away again, indicating he was done having this conversation. Claire Thomas was not who he needed to waste his time talking to right now.
