It had been six years since Alice and Frank were tortured to insanity. Nadine and Neville were eleven year old now. Augusta would take the kids to meet Frank and Alice every month. Even though they wouldn't talk to the kids, Nadine would talk to her parents nonstop and tell them everything about her day. In six years a lot of things had happened. When Nadine turned six, Chloe Bradford entered the picture.
Chloe was a 20 year old tall and thin woman, with thick brown hair reaching her elbows who would always be found wearing muggle clothing. Dumbledore introduced Chloe to Nadine. Chloe was assigned to teach Nadine about her Elemental Magic. Chloe was a fresh graduate out of Hogwarts. She was working in Gringotts as an intern as a curse breaker untill she was 19 and then went on to became a freelancing Curse Breaker. Travelling and working at her own will.
Nadine had grown up to have brown hair just like her mother but she looked exactly like her father. She had a heart shaped face and chocolate brown eyes.
When the family found out about Nadine's abilities she was given a great deal of attention, all the members of the family like her grand uncle Algie had taken it upon themselves to pamper her. Nadine was not the kind of person who preferred a lot of attention and pampering. It didn't last for long though.
*************
The Longbottoms had a big house. There was a special room designed for Nadine to practice her Elemental Magic. It had a high ceiling and was illuminated by a warm golden light which was coming from a small ball of fire floating near the ceiling. It was done by Chloe. If she was going to learn this Nadine was all in for the practice. The best part of having Fire as your Elemental Magic was; it was untraceable. The Ministry Of Magic would never be able to tell if any child was practicing Elemental Magic. It was kept a well guarded secrets by the families. As her practice went on Nadine was becoming good at controlling her fire, and summoning it when needed. Sometimes when Nadine wasn't able to control her fire, it would burst out of her and engulf her in a way which would make her look lethal. Chloe was a not a bad teacher at all. She was the most patient person Nadine had ever met. She would understand and teach again when Nadine's fire would burst out, but would also scold Nadine when she was being lazy as a sloth. Chloe told her that her magic would correspond to her emotions and would behave likely. Nadine had tried to have a grasp on her emotions and let it not affect her fire but it felt impossible then. But as she was growing up she had managed to have a good grasp on her emotions as well as fire.
One day grand uncle Algie and Gran decided to see how their grand daughter's practice was going on, even though they were advised not to come see Nadine while she was practicing by Chloe. Nadine was eight at the time. That was one such day when Nadine had lost control. This time the fire was so potent that it had spread in the whole room. If Chloe hadn't quickly cast a strong "Protego Maxima" around Gran and Algie they would've been burned to ashes. Since then Gran had decided to ignore the fact that her granddaughter had any Elemental Magic and Nadine was filled with guilt. She cried for hours and hours. Nadine was hurt when saw her Gran behaving distant with her. After that incident Nadine's Elemental Magic felt unstable. She would practice it again and again but it still felt weak. As if she wasn't using it to her full extent. Six months had passed and Nadine was still not in control of her magic and Neville had decided to intervene. He took Nadine to their parents room and reminded her all the things Gran had told them about their parents, how brave they were, how they fought till their last moments before they were driven insane because of the torture by the Death Eaters. Neville also told her that he was proud of his parents. That was motivation Nadine needed. After hearing that Nadine was filled with Love, Respect and pride for her parents and Hatred and Rage for the Death Eaters. So the next time Nadine practiced her Fire Magic, she felt the warmth again and her Fire felt alive again.
