Nadine entered the library quietly and sat in a corner. On her other side, she saw a boy who was in the same year as her. She quickly recognised him, it was Blaise Zabini, Slytherin. Nadine wasn't planning to read anything specific so she picked a book on Divination's history.
Even though she had opened the book, Nadine wasn't able to concentrate on reading, something about Blaise Zabini had distracted her. She looked at him once again and realized what it was. It was his sweater, the sweater had pictures on it and they were moving, exactly like a Wizards photo. Zabini looked up sensing Nadine's eyes on him. Nadine almost jumped in her seat.
"I'm sorry, I was just looking at your sweater" she blurted out. Even though Nadine didn't discriminate in houses, she had no idea what kind of a person Zabini was, if he was like Chloe or like Snape and Malfoy. "It's really nice" she added quickly.
"Oh, thanks" Zabini said and gave her a polite smile.
"Did you design it by yourself or is it something you owl order and some robe shop would do it for you?" Nadine asked her curiosity getting the best of her.
"No, actually, my mother made it for me" Zabini said. "I can't put pictures on it but I can put written phrases and texts on it"
"Really, you can do that?" Nadine asked, shellshocked. She wasn't the type of girl who was extremely self conscious about her clothing, she believed in wearing what was comfortable and what was on the top of the pile of her clothes, which saved her from the hassle of looking through her whole dresser to find the one thing to wear.
"Blaise right? Blaise Zabini?" Nadine asked.
"Yeah. Nadine, Nadine Longbottom?" Zabini asked and offered a handshake. Nadine shook his hand.
"I can show you, if you want you know" Zabini said looking excited but uncertain.
"Why not? I would love to!" Nadine told him.
"Wouldn't that be a problem for you?" He asked. Nadine was confused.
"Why would there be a problem?" Nadine asked.
"Because, I'm a Slytherin and You're a Gryffindor and our houses never communicate with each other without sneering and snide remarks." Zabini said.
"Well, I don't really have a problem with Slytherins" Nadine told him.
"Only with the people whose purpose of life is to make your life hell, like Malfoy" Zabini said sighing softly. "I mean, don't get me wrong, he is my best mate but I don't really agree with some of his behaviour and I'm quite vocal about it to him"
"Yeah, of course" Nadine said.
"Alright, Come on then. I need a piece of clothing, something small will do" Zabini said, picking up his wand. Nadine took out her handkerchief and passed it to Zabini.
"The first thing you do is transfigure the fabric to fluid" Zabini waved his wand in a complicated hand movement and the fabric of the handkerchief looked translucent. "now you put the text on it." He did another hand movement, more complicated than the previous one and the tip of his wand lit up as if he had put a lumos spell.
"What do you want me to write?" Zabini asked. Nadine hadn't thought about that.
"My name" Nadine told him, thinking quickly.
"And colour?"
"Red"
Zabini muttered 'red' in Latin and the light at the tip of his wand turned red. "If you want to keep changing colours then say their names and it'll quickly change colours. Do you mind if I experiment with the colours a bit?"
