At lunchtime they went down to the Great Hall, to find that the House tables had been moved against the walls again, and that a single table, stood in the middle of the room. Professors Dumbledore, McGonagall, Snape, Sprout, and Flitwick were there, along with Filch, the caretaker, who had taken off his usual brown coat and was wearing a very old and rather moldy-looking tailcoat.
There were only three other students, two extremely nervous-looking first years and a sullen-faced Slytherin fifth year. There was a young woman who stood beside Dumbledore's chair, dressed in Muggle clothing and was about to take her seat around the table. If Nadine didn't know who the woman was, she might have thought a Muggle was able to enter Hogwarts.
"CHLOE!" Nadine wouldn't have felt any more happier.
"And there's my little firecracker" Chloe's voice echoed around the huge Great Hall.
Nadine, who couldn't control her excitement to see her mentor and friend sprinted towards Chloe and jumped on her for a big warm hug.
"Merry Christmas, Kiddo"
"Merry Christmas Chloe"
"Ah, Reunions, I say, the happiest of all" Dumbledore said.
"Merry Christmas!" Dumbledore told Harry, Ron, Nadine and Hermione approached the table. "As there are so few of us, it seemed foolish to use the House tables. . . . Sit down, sit down!"
All five of them sat side by side.
"Dig in!" Dumbledore advised the table, beaming around.
Chloe was a half blood. Her mother Helena, who was a pureblood, just like Mr Weasley, had become fascinated by Muggles after she married Chloe's father, Derek Bradford. So when Chloe was growing up, she was bought with an amalgamation of Muggle and Pureblood ways; including a more than little of Muggle ways. Helena had always bought Muggle clothing for Chloe to wear; she believed it was more up to date compared to what was known to the Wizarding World.
Two hours later, full to bursting with Christmas dinner and still wearing their party hats, Harry and Ron got up first from the table. Nadine who was just behind them turned towards Hermione.
"Come on, Hermione, let's go" Nadine nudged Hermione's shoulder.
"You go on, I want to talk to Professor McGonagall" Hermione said.
"Can't you go later?" Nadine said giving Hermione her puppy dog eyes. "Please 'mione, please, I want to go to the library later, we can go together"
"Alright, fine." Hermione gave in.
When Nadine turned around to look for Chloe she found her beside Professor Dumbledore talking to him in hushed tones and heard him saying with a smile "By all means, Chloe"
Nadine stood up from her seat clutching Hermione's hand when Chloe came towards their seats. "Come on, Kiddo!"
Nadine, Hermione, Harry and Ron walked in entrance hall. "Chloe, are you coming with us?" Nadine asked uncertainly.
"Yes, I'm coming to your common room, and the headmaster permits" Nadine let out a excited squeal.
"Hang on I want to meet your friends, I know all about you guys though" Chloe said. She looked towards Ron "Ron, Ron Weasley, you're Bill's brother, aren't you?"
"You know him?" Ron asked.
"Yeah, I do. I'm a curse breaker and we're friends" Chloe said and turned to look a Hermione. "And this must the brightest witch of her age, Hermione Granger" Hermione flushed at that. "Minerva told me that you're an outstanding student" Hermione's face turned scarlet upon hearing that.
