ENJOY
Seven years. Had you asked Judy Hopps what it felt like, she would have said it felt more like three. Sense moving back to BunnyBurrow and finishing highschool, the bunny only had one thing on her mind. Being a police officer. Her parents believed in her. So did Alice. The bunny had many mammals who had her back on the whole idea, but that didn't mean that it was going to be easy.
In fact, the bunny already knew it would be anything but easy. The bunny would have to go above and beyond to show the mammals at the Zootopia Police Academy that she had what it took. Judy studied every day. Learning every law in the country, and every thing she needed to know about police protocol. The work finally paid off when Judy got a letter in the mail, saying that she was accepted into the Zootopia Police Academy.
Words could not express how happy she was as she loaded onto a bus with other mammals who had dreams of becoming cops. The bunny thought about everything that lead her to this moment, and for some odd reason, her mind went to the mammal who made her believe she could do it.
The memory hurt the bunny so she doesn't think about it. She pretends that her highschool sweetheart had been nothing more than her imagination. To Judy, Nick Wilde didn't exist.
That is how it has been for the past seven years, and hopefully, it will stay that way.
###
Seven Years. Had you asked Nick Wilde what it felt like, he would have gave you his sly smirk and said it felt like twenty. Truth be told, the fox couldn't believe it had only been seven years sense he graduated Zootopia High School because sense then, he and his old school buddy, Finnick, had been hustling mammals and making money on the streets of Zootopia. Every day was the same old thing. Nick and Finnick would get a Jumbo pop, melt it, refreeze it into smaller PAWpcicles, take the sticks out of the trash, and sell them as lumber to the mice running construction. For seven years, this operation had ran smoothly, and the two didn't see a reason to stop.
However, Nick did want it to stop. He wanted nothing more than to leave this life and life one that was normal, but even Nick knew that would never happen as long as he was a fox. No one would hire him. That was the reason he agreed to do this gig with Finnick in the first place. However, being a crook did have its advantages. Nick had found a way to learn about every single mammal in Zootopia. He knew of every street. Every ally. Everything there was to know about Zootopia, Nick Wilde knew.
The fox seemed happy. He seemed like everything was figured out for him, and as time went on, Nick stopped thinking about the one mammal he couldn't go a day without having her pop into his head. The mammal he lost many years ago. Seven years to be exact. Five years ago, she was the one who got away. The mammal he loved more than anything, even after the way their breakup went down. However, now, she was nothing to him but a bunny he used to go to highschool with. She was only a part of Nick's past that vanished like everything else in his life. The feelings were gone. The love was gone. The memories were gone. Judy Hopps was gone.
###
Judy had came up to the top of her class at the police academy, and nothing in that moment could make the bunny happier. Her mom, Dad, and Alice.
"I am please to announce, that my mammal inclusion initiative has produced it's every first bunny cop, who came at the top of her class. Officer Judy Hopps," Mayor Lionheart said with a smile as Judy walked on the stage to collect her badge from assistant mayor Bellwether. Judy smiled to the cameras as they took pictures of their very first rabbit officer, who was said to be taking her place in precinct one of the ZPD.
The bunny left the graduation with her family, and Alice, knowing that she now had to get packed up to leave for Zootopia the next day.
"Oh, Judy," Alice said, hugging her friend," I am so proud of you."
Judy smiled warmly," I know, this is so awesome."
"Are you excited to go back to Zootopia?" Stu asked with a soft chuckle.
Judy shrugged," It will be fine. I promise to call you guys every day."
"We expect you to," Bonnie laughed, hugging her daughter," Now, go get packed, you have a train to board tomorrow."
Judy nodded her head and ran into the house, grabbing her biggest suitcase. She had already called about an apartment, so there was nothing to worry about there. It had pretty low ratings, but the rent was cheap, and that is all Judy needed right now.
###
Judy stood with her mom and Dad at the train station, ready to board the next train to Zootopia. Her mom and Dad were close to tears as Judy was mentally preparing herself.
"We are going to miss you," Bonnie said to her only daughter," Promise to visit us?"
Judy smiled," Of course."
The train then came into view and Judy jumped in excitement," Ok, bye, love you," Judy said quickly, running not the train, but stopped. She had forgotten something.
The bunny ran back off the train and hugged her parents," I love you guys," the bunny said, giving them both a quick kiss before boarding the train. The doors closed and the big hunk of metal started moving. Judy smiled to herself as she put her earbuds in. The bunny had lived in Zootopia for a long time. Only away from it for seven years, but in this moment, Judy thought the city was more beautiful than ever.
AN- Alright, hope you liked it. I am going to try and update regularly, or as often as a can. Hopefully, the next chapter will be up tonight. Till then....
