Manches

AN-Pretty long chapter, also, I had to use my phone so I'm sorry for any mistakes.

Finally, Nick and Judy had made it to the rainforest district where they were to meet the mammal who was driving the limo that night, Mr. Manches.
"I guess this is our guy," Judy said, ringing the doorbell.
The door cracked open, left that way with the chain lock connected to said door," Who is it."
"I am officer Judy Hopps," the bunny said,"We just want to talk about what happened to Emmitt Otterton."
The leapard then start to appear,"You should be asking what happened to me!"
The fox and bunny looked shocked as they saw the claw Marks on the Panthers eye.
"A tiny otter did that?" Nick said.
"Sir, what happened."
"He went crazy. Crawling on all fours, ripping the seats. When I looked at him, he attacked me. He was a savage."
Judy looked a little worried as she said,"What was Mr. Otterton going to Big for?"
"He wouldn't tell me. He just kept talking about the nighthowlers."
Nick could tell Judy was lost, so the fox used his hustle skills to get answers,"Oh, so you know about the night howlers too? That's good, because that is what we are here to talk about. Right Hopps?"
"Yes it is," Judy said, impressed," So, you tell us what you know, and we'll tell you what we know. Deal?"
"Okay," Manches said, closing the door to take the chain off.
"Clever fox," Judy said to Nick.
"Yeah, I haven't changed that much."
Judy thought about what Nicl had said, and a part of her wanted to believe that was true. Yeah, his personality didn't change. He was still the sly, smart and fox she had fallen in love with in high school. However, who he was as a mammal, he did change.
The bunny was taken out of her thoughts by the sound of a loud crash,"What was that?" Nick said as the two reached for the door.
"Mr. Manches?" Judy called, looking to the panther struggling on the ground,"Are you alright?"
The panther then shot up and his eyes displayed till they were nothing more than black specks. He smelt the two mammal and the fox and bunny knew what he was thinking.
Supper.
"Run," they said at the same time as the two ran for the skinning bridge of rope and thin wood.
Manches was right on their tail. [PUN INTENDED]
Nick and Judy finally got off the bridge and crawled into a hollow log, but it was not good enough protection.
"Get down," Judy said to Nick as a black paw broke through the wood.
"Dispatch, I need back up!"
Judy and Nick had made a run for it out of the log before Clawhousers voice was on,"Officer Hopps? What's going on?"
"Savage Panther. Rainforest district on Tuhundra!"
"Its tahanga!" Nick said as they kept running. Suddenly, Manches came out of nowhere and hit the two onto a tram dock which caused Judy's radio to fall down the deep cliff.
Nick kept running till he made it to a team that had stopped and opened the door, not realizing that Judy had skidded across the wet, slippery dock to the edge, barely being able to hold on.
"CARROTS!" Nick said fearfully.
"Just go, Nick," Judy said, as Manches walked closer to Nick. The fox just let the team go, staying in front of the panther.
"Hey, buddy," Nick said,"One predator to another, this seems a little-" Nick was cut off when Manches leaped for him, but the black mammal didn't even touch him. Nick looked up to see Judy had cuffed him to a nearby pole,"Ok, so I think we will give you some time to cool OFF!" Nick said as he tried to walked around the mammal, but he jumped toward the fox, causing him to jump back, bumping into Judy which caused them to call off the dock.
Judy quickly grabbed on to a vine, then took Nick's hand,"Carrots, whatever you do, do not let go!"
Judy looked around where they were and got an idea," I'm gonna let go!"
"WHAT?!"
Then, without warning, Judy let go of the vine and the two were flying in the air, toward a bunch of large leaves that could hold him up.
"We..we're alive?"
"Yes, Dumb fox."
"You..you saved my life, Carrots."
Judy chuckled a little,"Like I could just let you die?"
Nick looked into the bunny's eyes, and he saw something that he hadn't seen in seven years. Those beautiful eyes that caught him attention from the first time he met Judy. Nick shook away any thoughts he had, but if he didn't, he may fall in love with her again.
The two jumped a little when the leaves began to bend, and suddenly, the fox and bunny fell toward the hard ground, but, luckily, they got wrapped up in a bundle of vines which helped them not hit the ground. However, right at that time, the ZPD had arrived. And Bogo did not look amused.

"Chief, I know this is going to sound out there, but I have reason to believe, that Mr. Otterton and this jaguar..they went savage sir."
"Savage? Hopps, what do you think this is? The stone age? Mammals don't go savage."
"I thought the same thing sir," Judy said,"Till I saw this.."
The bunny then moved the leave, hoping they would reveal the Manches, who was there just moments ago, but he was...gone.
"He was right here!" Judy saidshocked.
"The savage jaguar?" Bogo said sarcastically.
"Chief, he was here, I swear. I want the only one that saw it," Judy said, looking to Nick for help.
"What? You think I'm going to believe a fox?" Bogo said.
"Sir, he was a key witness."
"Two days to find the other, or you resign," Bogo said, reminding the bunny or their deal," That was the deal, and you blew it. Badge!"
Judy couldn't believe what she was hearing,"But..sir."
"BADGE!"
Judy looked at the golden badge on her vest, the reminder of how hard she worked to get her, and just like that it's about to be taken from her.
Then a voice came that shocked everyone,"Uh, no."
Everyone turned to look at the fox," What did you say?" Bogo frowned to Nick.
"I'm sorry, what I said was Nooo. She will not be giving you that badge."
"Are you trying to tell me how to do my Job fox?"
"Well, here's how i see it chief. You give her no leads and a three wheeled joke mobile to solve a case in two days they you guys haven't cracked in two weeks? No wonder she needed help from a fox, i mean none of you guys were going to help her. You were just going to expect her to do it all by herself, and laugh at her when her inevitable failure came. So, here is the thing, you have her the forty eight hours, so that means, we have ten left to find out other, and that is what we are going to do, and when that comes, I want a hot cup of coffee waiting for me. Good day."
Nick then walked away from the chief, and not far behind, Judy followed, till the two had made it to one of the sky teams. Nick opened the door,"Officer Hopps," the fox said, allowing the bunny inside first.
The two then decided to rise the team till they made it back to Zootopia. They say there in silence for a while, till Judy spoke,"Thank you."
Nick sighed,"No matter how much hurt we caused each other in the past, I still cannot stand to see someone pick on you."
"So, you still care?"
"Yes, I do," Nick said,"I will always care, Judy."
"Why did you take that drink, Nick?" Judy asked,"I am not trying to pick a fight..i just want to know."
Nick lowered his head,"I was tricked into it, Carrots. When me, finnick, and Greg went out to have fun, i asked Greg to get me a drink, and he gave me one with alcohol. I guess i didn't even realize it until it was too late, but I have regretted it every day."
"Nick, I never stopped caring either. I tried to act like I didn't care, but the truth is..I think I still-"
"Where do you even think Manches went?"
Judy raised a brow,"What?"
"I mean, he just vanished."
"Nick..," Judy said, trying to finish her sentence.
"The jam cams," Nick said.
"They..what?"
Nick then pointed out," There are traffic cameras everywhere. All over the canopy."
The information Nick gave was enough for the bunny to put her previous thoughts on hold,"So, whatever happened to Manches.."
"The cameras caught it."
"However, I highly doubt chief buffalo but letting you get into those files after what I said," Nick said.
"No," the bunny replied,"But I have a friend at city hall who might."
