'I still don't understand why I'm here.'
Levi Griffin was one of the few trusted by both Salvatore's and welcome in the house at any time. It was also known that Damon had gotten it into his head pretty early on in their friendship that Levi was some sort of magic lucky charm. He was a warlock, but a pretty normal one at that. He had no enhanced strength, speed or healing yet always seemed to come out of the frequent dangerous situations that became their lives unscathed. It was like he was supernaturally lucky. However, Levi knew that didn't mean his luck couldn't or wouldn't run out one day. It also still didn't explain why his presence was required this particular evening.
'By request of Elijah.'
'Oh, and we're suddenly listening to the oldest all-powerful vampire now, are we?' he retorted, incredulously.
Damon downed the rest of his drink, 'Yes! We need him to continue thinking he's got the advantage so we can use our advantage without any problem whatsoever.'
'Yeah,' Levi grumbled as Damon forced a drink into his hand, 'that sounds likely.'
He would've felt out of place among the couples if it wasn't for Damon's absurd plan that preoccupied him instead. It wasn't the supernatural that bothered him. That he was used to. His mother had raised him to be aware of the hidden demons of the world, especially as she was a witch herself. It just wasn't until the Salvatore brothers turned up that he truly understood the non-witch side to the supernatural. They made much more sense of it.
A knock on the door made both Damon and Levi pause drinking. Smirking at the eighteen-year-old, Damon wandered to answer the door while Levi remained at a distance.
'Good evening,' a smooth voice travelled through the dark wood house. The only age Levi could detect within its tone was the arrogance.
'Thank you for coming. Please come in.'
'Just one moment. Can I just say that if you have less than honourable intentions about how this evening is going to proceed, I suggest you reconsider.'
Levi took a few steps to the side, trying to see around Damon, curious to see the man at the door. He blinked in surprise.
'No, nothing, nothing dishonourable. Just getting to know you.'
'Hmm. Well, that's good.' Elijah sauntered in, his wooden eyes connecting with pale emerald ones, momentarily glancing back to Damon. 'Because, you know, although Elena and I have this deal if you so much as to make a move to cross me, I'll kill you and I'll kill everyone in this house. Are we clear?'
'Crystal.'
Levi couldn't pull his eyes away from the Original. Every time the man took a step further into the house it felt like a hand was running up his spine, ready to grab the back of his neck at any moment and pull him back.
