At the moment he was sitting on one of the highest roofs he could find in the city. He wasn't afraid of heights anymore; something that had scared him the most when he had been alive.

There simply was no reason to be afraid anymore. He was already dead. Or at least half dead. He still had a heart that was beating – though so slow that you couldn't detect it – and he still had a body that looked rather human. The only difference; this body healed like no other human body and most of all...he had a demon form now.

A demon form was the true form of the soul of a demon. Just like every human was different, every demon was different as well. They came in all sizes, shapes, colours. Each demon had a different number of powers, a different set of powers. Those powers could range from walking through walls to being able to blow up a city.

You'd think Hoseok would be happy with the powers he had. You'd think he would be happy to be something supernatural. That he'd be happy he couldn't get hurt anymore, that he wasn't scared anymore.

Yeah, you'd think he would be happy, but Hoseok wasn't happy at all.

He didn't get those powers for free. Not only that, they were forced upon him. Whether he wanted them or not, he had to do terrible things in order to save himself from the agony he would be pulled to if he disobeyed.

Hoseok had heard about the strength of demons who had no trouble killing humans. With every kill they made, their powers increased. The same applied to Hoseok, though he stalled until there were one or two days left until the 'deadline' so his powers didn't increase much. The other demons would kill...and kill...and they never stopped. Their strength was immense and it terrified Hoseok and his friends.

"Hyung, have you seen Jin-hyung?"

Hoseok turned his head slightly to the left to find Taehyung there, feet dangling above the ground while his pitch-black wings kept him in the air.

"Taehyungie? I thought you were getting Jimin back...where is he?" Hoseok asked, pulling his legs back over the edge of the roof and getting up on his feet.

Taehyung followed him and folded his wings behind him – he didn't bother to hide them up here – standing in front of his hyung with an almost guilty look on his face.

"Something happened...he heard about Namjoon-hyung's punishment. He told Gimeon he would do anything in order to free Namjoon from what awaited him."

Hoseok closed his eyes and sighed. "Well, we can't do much then. If it was voluntary, no one will bat an eye at him."

"But who knows what Gimeon will do! What if he cuts Jimin's tail instead?!" Taehyung exclaimed.

"Oh, I know what he'll do." Hoseok half-chuckled, remembering what had happened a few decades ago. "But it won't be any tail-cutting, so don't worry."

Hoseok eyed Taehyung for a moment, noticing the clear distress on the boy's face. He sighed again and ran a hand through his hair. "So, what about Jin-hyung? Why are you looking for him?"

"Jimin asked me to find you guys again and wait until...until he came back...and then we'd go see Yoongi-hyung and Namjoon-hyung." Taehyung explained quickly. "But hyung! Don't we have to save Jimin? Gimeon is clearly going to hurt him!"

"Yes." Hoseok shrugged. "But Jimin suggested it. If Namjoon gets to keep his tail, something has to be given to Gimeon in return. In this case, it's Jimin." He then snickered. "And what did you want to do? Storm inside in your demon form and try to take on the Demon of Ashes? Doesn't sound like a very good idea, does it?"

Taehyung nodded in defeat.

Hoseok had to be a little hard on him; Taehyung was very good at coming up with the most idiotic plans, especially when one of his friends was hurt. If Hoseok didn't convince him of how his plans were never going to work out, the boy would stay hopeful.

Hoseok knew what it would do to you if you had too much hope. It would come back at you in the end, when you found out there was never any hope after all.

"About Jin-hyung, he told me he'd go for a walk." Hoseok then told Taehyung. Both of them knew what that meant. Taehyung's white eyes slightly darkened.

"He was almost in as much trouble as Yoongi. If he hadn't promised to kill before sunset he would've joined ghost-boy in his five day's stay." Taehyung said, his lips forming a thin line. He glanced at Hoseok and sighed. "We've really brought ourselves into a nasty situation, haven't we?"

Hoseok nodded, thinking about all the things that could've gone wrong today. Their 'law' wasn't the strictest law. For all he knows they could've been sent to hell hours ago. Except for Jimin of course, because even though the law had changed, they didn't have the right to send him to hell without giving him an ultimatum.

"I'll call Jin-hyung and tell him to meet us at the door to the dungeons." Taehyung said, unfolding his wings.

Hoseok noticed the action and watched as the boy stretched his wings, eyes trailing the feathers mindlessly. Then they fell on Taehyung's pitch black eyes.

"Where are you going?" Hoseok asked carefully, though he knew the answer. "You can call him here."

Taehyung bit his lip and looked away. "Sorry, Hoseok-hyung. I have to leave for a bit."

"Taehyung, you shouldn't-"

"I can't help it, hyung. I have to go." Taehyung said quickly.

He jumped off the roof and his wings caught him. Just like that, the boy had gone off. Hoseok watched as he flew away, turning into a small black dot after a minute or so.

He felt worried, but mostly sad for the boy. Taehyung was one of the younger demons and had the least control over his- well...demon side out of all six of them. When someone as much as mentioned killing, Taehyung's instinct would be to go on a killing spree straight away. Most of the time he was able to suppress the feeling, but now that he had been late for a few weeks – like all of them – he had more difficulty in pushing away the hunger.

Hoseok was feeling it too. The hunger. The edge he felt like he was going to fall off of if he gave into it.

Last night he had been unable to control it. The woman at the bar...she had looked so tempting. Not only because of her looks. He had been able to see her soul, like his kind of demon could. He had seen how pure it was. The need to destroy that pure soul had been too great.

Lucky for him it was the last day for him to kill and he was right on time. If he hadn't lost control he would've been in Jin's shoes, maybe even Yoongi's, and he wouldn't have wanted that...
Hoseok groaned when his phone rang.

"Jin-hyung? What's up? Did Tae tell you to go to the dungeons?"

"What? Taehyung-ah? No, I haven't heard of him since he left the building. I'm already at the dungeons though, where are you?"

"Rooftop."

"Don't you dare jump again, Jung Hoseok, last time you did that we had to sneak you out of a morgue! That was more trouble than you'd imagine, young man!"

"I'm sorry, I love you hyungie~."

"Yeah, yeah, sure. Now get your ass over to the dungeons. We've got some friends to carry home."
