Namjoon knew he was in for a lot of trouble when he was called to court. There hadn't been the slightest bit of doubt in his mind that they had found out about his secret and he knew what the consequences were. Still, he was completely fine with it. If showing the Council how determined he was to stop killing every day like he used to meant giving up his tail, so be it.

It was ironic, really.

Namjoon had been like a model demon for the first centuries of his demon life. Of course he knew the rule was to kill once a week, but he got the hang of it and his higher-ups rejoiced in the number of kills he managed to get over the years. He himself was lost to the hunger for at least three hundred years.

To be honest, he didn't know what had changed him. In his group of friends, he was the only one who was usually completely fine with killing, but it had occurred less and less that he killed more than twice a week. What made him stop killing every day? Some may think it was his friends' determination to make an end to this nonsense. Had he been convinced at last?

No, it had been something else. Something Namjoon wasn't ready to tell his friends about.

"Kim Namjoon, you can leave."

Namjoon raised an eyebrow and looked up from his seated position against the wall. One of the guards stood in front of his cell and had opened the door.

"Wasn't I supposed to receive punishment?" Namjoon asked carefully, getting up on his feet. He eyed the demon suspiciously, almost thinking it was tricking him. It wouldn't be the first time that happened.

"Change of plans. One of your friends stood up for you. You're free to go." The demon answered him. When he still didn't make a move of walking out of the cell, the demon grabbed his arm and dragged him out. "C'mon, we don't have all day, some of us do need to feed." It grumbled as Namjoon stumbled forward and rubbed his arm.

"Alright, alright...I'll leave..." Namjoon said with an irritated tone. "But before you go, could you tell me who of my friends it was?"

The demon's indifferent face changed into a smug one.
"Park Jimin." It chuckled.

Namjoon cursed under his breath. Of course it had been Jimin. Why did that boy always take the blame? He didn't deserve any of it!

He didn't spare the demon another glance before running off, knowing exactly where Jimin would be. There was only one demon who liked messing with Jimin more than cutting off tails.

It didn't take him more than five minutes to find the boy. Barging into Gimeon's 'office', Namjoon was ready to turn and bite the bastards' head off-

Until he saw Jimin dangling from the ceiling by his feet, waving at him with a goofy smile.

"Heya, Joonie."

There were so many questions Namjoon wanted to shout at Jimin, but in the end there was only one that really mattered right now.

"Jimin..." he said, eying the boy worriedly, "are you okay?"

Jimin chuckled, suppressing a coughing fit. He raised an eyebrow and even while looking beaten up he managed to pull an amused face.
"Since when did you become a softie? Where's the 'I will destroy everything'-Namjoon I know so well? And about me, I'm alright. I'll heal. Gimeon had his fun, so we're free to go."
