I slammed the door shut behind me and the cold air immediately slams into my body. I unrolled the sleeves and tucked my hands in.
I took a seat on the porch, thinking about what happened inside and tears immediately trickled down my cheek.
I am getting tired of Calum, I am tired of expecting that everything will be alright. I'm trying to be nice to him but it's hard to keep up with him. He treats you nicely but with a split of a second he goes back to acting like a jerk. He never changed at all. He is still the guy who humiliated me on school and made people hate me.
Tears continue to trickle down my cheeks as I hear the sound of a car vehicle getting louder every second. I look up to see a familiar car pulling over, It was Ashton's.
I immediately wiped my tears and pulled the hoodie down, straightening myself.
"Cheska, what are you doing here? It's late. Let's get inside." Ashton outstretched his arms and looked at me. I didn't want to get in yet.
"Are you okay?" He suddenly looked worried, I looked down and didn't answer.
"Tell me about it." He sat down next to me.
"Just the usual." I look at him.
"But I acted way too sensitive so I guess it's also my fault." I look back down, fiddling with my fingers.
"Well that's the thing about Calum, he doesn't care about other's feelings , he acts like a dickhead to everyone. " At this point, the wind gets colder and colder, I placed my arms across each other making myself warm.
"How do you deal with him?"
"Calum was way different before, he was genuinely happy and carefree. Music was his passion, we used to hang out in my place and just write songs and play instruments with Michael. But all of our memories together seems like a blur to him now. Things happened all at once, then he turned into this. At some point he needed a therapist, it somehow worked but it always comes back. He fights with his dad, Derick almost every night. He gets involved with fights often. But I think, as I am the one who is with him most of the time, he somehow changed. But he doesn't give a damn to anyone anymore."
I didn't know that we were once in the same case, he seemed really strong and all.
"You guys are friends with Michael too, right?" I ask Ashton.
"I am, Calum used to be good friends with Mike too, not anymore though. Something happened between them and I think that's something I'm not in charge to tell, Michael knew Calum before I did."
"Just don't give up on him yet, Calum is a lot more than being an asshole. You will see the real him when you know him better and trust me, he is a good person. He is fun to be around and trust me, you wouldn't regret knowing him once you know the real Calum. It's just that he wants to let everyone know that he doesn't need anyone, but he does. And I think the one he need is you." He added, looking through my eyes.
"Me?" I asked Ashton confusingly.
"Yeah, you. Calum never cares about anyone but when he saw you hurt back in my car, I could see it through him that he was concerned. I know he is interested to know more about you."
"I don't know, Ash." I shook my head.
"But what you just said makes me want to know him more, I'll just deal with him." I added.
"You okay now?" He asks me, bringing out his dimpled smile.
"Thanks to you I am." I smiled at him.
"Thanks Ash." I went closer to him and hugged him, he embraced me on his arms and rubbed his hands on my back.
"Come on, it's getting late." He stood up and extended his arms infront of me.
I took his hand and smiled at him.
When we entered in, my eyes immediately met Calum. He looked at me in the eyes and we both look away.
Ashton lead me to the guest room and I thanked him once more before he left. The room was decorated in black and white, the bed is neatly made and everything was organized and the wooden floor was covered with white rags.
I was exhausted so I took my shoes off and set it aside and immediately went to bed.
I loosened my ponytail and finger combed my hair. I laid down and took a deep sigh, realizing how eventful my night was.
I suddenly heard a soft knock on the door and I immediately sat up, straightening myself once more.
Calum.
"Can I come in?" He asks with his head peeking behind the door.
I slightly chuckled and nodded.
He came in and shut the door behind him. He was wearing a gray sweatpants and a black shirt with the sleeves rolled up. His hair was a bit messy and all over the place but he still looked good.
He took a seat at the edge of the bed and faced me. "I'm sorry for acting like a dick to you the rest of the time, I heard Ashton telling my whole autobiography and history to you outside. So I think you know what's up." I look at him while he talks, he seemed really sincere.
"Yeah he did but I still didn't get it that much." I say to him.
"You look really tired, you need to get some rest. I'm so-"
"Calum, it's fine." I cut him off and gave him a reassuring smile.
"Thanks." He says, really awkwardly.
"My eyes are fucking heavy, I should go. Goodnight, Shaylene." He stood up and opened the door.
"Goodnight, Cal."
"One more thing." He looked back at me.
I raised an eyebrow at him, signalling him to speak.
"Is the deal still on?" He asks.
Which made me smile because it seems like he is interested to know more of me, and after tonight, I wanted to know more of Calum, too. There's this part of me that wants him to be happy again, I want to experience what it would be like to have a different Calum with you. The type of guy Ashton just told me back there at the porch. Calum has a missing piece on his puzzle, I want to find that piece and give it to him, or atleast give him a clue in order to find it, to find himself and feel complete again.
"Deal's off." I smiled at him. And this time, a real and genuine one.

hai guys hai. :D
so if youre wondering what the 'deal' is, well you're not reading every chapter :-( okay the deal is they would tell each other why they both said "three" when they placed ice breakers. ice breakers is a game which you have to say a number but make sure its only you who said it because if someone said the same number too at the same time as you said it, there would be a consequence.
they made a deal that if they dont fight for two weeks, they would tell the reason why they said three. but they fought so the deal is off because shaylene wanted to know calum more. read the previous chapters so you would understand more :-)
p.s - i am stoked for good girls.
