Chapter 13

"Cal, what did they want?"

I hopped out the water and walked past Michael and the others.

"Calico."
I grabbed my towel and wrapped it around me. "I don't want to talk about it." I walked back to the picnic blanket and grabbed my stuff and started to walked back to my apartment.
"Kai, what is going on?" Sam asked as he ran up to me.
I turned on him, feeling my eyes starting to sting, "I said I don't want to talk about it okay?! Now just leave me, I need to be by myself for a while."
Sam nodded, "Okay, we'll wait for you." I give a brief nod and walked into the building and up the stairs.

I loved how Sam is so understanding. But I can't tell them. I can't tell them what Finley's leader told me.
It's not that she said I can't tell anyone, it's just that I don't want to.

"Calico." I stopped at the door to our apartment. I turn around and look at the guy in front of me.

"Who are you?" I asked, not in the mood to deal with people.
"That's hurtful, Cutie. I thought we were friends." the dude said.
Ahh you the one who teased me the other day.
"What do you want." I asked.
He sneered, "For you to know your place."

I barely missed his punch. I lost my balance and fell to the ground. He tried to step on me but I rolled away. I was just about to get up when he shoved me down the stairs. I rolled down hitting the sharp edges here and there. I rolled over and groaned and staggered up, using the wall as a support. He approached me and cackled. I watched as he approached, his body started to change. His skin was spread with scales with a army green tint. His eye became yellow and his pupils changed to slits.
"See Low Class. This is what a true Mix looks like. You shouldn't lie to your higher class knight about who you are."
He definitely was scary I was trembling and let out a small whine for someone to come help me. Even his teeth changed, he grew taller and you could see the muscles all over his body.
He grabbed me by the waist, with his big hands and tossed me back up the stairs. I landed hard and had the wind nocked out of my lungs. I stood up trembling and ran to the apartment door and tried to get inside but Reptile dude got to me first and  tossed me meters away. I struggled to stand up, feeling pain in every muscle and bone in my body. I brushed the hair out of my face and stood in a fighting stance.
"You think you, out of all the  people, could beat me. One of thee most strongest Knights? You, Calico Kline, don't stand a chance."
He hissed and blinking those yellow eyes of his. He walk towards me in a weird way, almost like how a crocodile would walk. I saw a flicker of a big, scaly tail behind him and I gulped. This guy is a monster. He could kill me at any second.

I then remembered that I have armor and reached to touch my Band but it wasn't there. I inwardly swore.
Where could it be?
I looked around and couldn't find it.
She is so weak and inexperienced. Poor girl, looking for her Band when I have it. She looks like a lost creature, so vulnerable and easy to take advantage of. She will learn her place after I am done with her.
The images flooding into my mind of what Crocodile Man could do were worst than my nightmares. But I couldn't let him reach his goal. The images of him and some other monsters torturing others like me was horrific. I swished my tail and thought of a quick plan.

Nothing...

I saw his tail flick again. My Band. It's on his tail. Wait... I have a tail, and not just any tail, an amazing tail.

He grabbed me by the legs and tossed me against the wall. I winced at the pain shooting up my leg after I landed against the ground. He grabbed me by the neck and lifted me up to the wall. He smirked and came forward to whisper in my ear. "And when I am done with you Calico Kline, your friends are next."

He tightened his hold. I struggled to breath. I felt like I couldn't do anything.

You can't but your tail can.

I, Calico Kline, then did the stupidest thing on Blugensal.

In Creatures of the Universe class, I was very intrigued by all the different animals the universe had. Sadly there were no unicorns. But I we were learning about all the animals today, I paid close attention to their tails and what the animals instincts were.

So for my stupid moment was to turn my tail into a dragon tail. One like Stormfly from "How to train your dragon" movie.

Let me tell you why it's a stupid idea;
First, dragons in the universe are actually one of the weakest creatures but still resourceful. Earth has its lies.
Second, is that a Stegon (that's the drogon's name) has sharp but brittle spikes on its tail.

Before I could stop myself, I stabbed Crocodile Man in the leg with my tail, but that made matters worse. He cried out in pain and let go of me, but by doing that I had fell down onto my aching leg and snapping the spikes off my tail. And let me tell you, it was not very pleasant. It felt like something that was stabbed into you broke and  was yanked out with excruciating pain.

I crawled through C-Man's legs and grabbed my Band. I ran towards my door again, but the slimy, scaly tail of C-Man rapped around my leg and tugged me down back to my old acquaintance, the floor.

"Okay I have had enough of this." I grumbled. I tapped my armor on and stabbed C-Man's tail. He instantly let go howling. I stood and punched him in the throat. Then kneed him in the gut. He fell to his knees.

"You think you actually won Kline? As if." he stuttered and stood with a limp and put me in a neck lock. I struggled to break free and my tail was trapped between his legs.

"HEY!" a voice challenged.
A blast of energy hit C-Man square in the face. He growled and let go of me. I couldn't see because my vision had started to blur but all I saw was blasts of light and then hear a loud thud.

"What's going on here?"

General Alexander.

"Sir, this...this... THING attacked my partner, so as I came up the stairs I saw him strangling her and she was just about to pass out."

Michael. Thanks the stars.

"I will take care of him, you take Miss Kline back to your apartment." I heard General Alexander drag C-Man away. I blinked and my vision cleared slowly. I looked up and made eye-contact with Michael.

"You okay?" He asked, kneeling down nexted to me on the floor.
I nod. I stood up and regained my balance. Michael put and arm around my waist and slung my arm over his shoulder. We walked over to the door then went in after scanning Michael's Band. He led me to the couch and I sat down.

"Your bleeding." Michael said. He stood and grabbed some bandages and first aid kit.
"Who knew the rest of space would have first aid kits." I smiled.
"Shut up and stay still." Michael said. He cleaned and wrapped the end of my tail.
"There. All done." he lifted it and kissed it. "Feeling better?"
I nod. I tapped my armor off and winced as the rest of my body went into pain.

"Lie down, I will come clean the rest of your injuries now." I lay down on my left and wrapped my arms around the pillow under my head. Michael came back with a wet cloth and a bucket of ice water.

"So do you want to talk about it?"

"What do you mean?" I asked as he rubbed the cloth over a scratch on my arm.

"Either what happened in the hallway just now or with Finley." He said, not making eye contact with me.

I watched as he rinsed the cloth in the bucket and bring his hands out.
"Your hands. What happened?" I asked.
"Calico don't avoid my question."
"And don't avoid mine. You first then I will go." I said perching myself on my elbows.
He looked at me for a while with seriousness in his facial expression. "My powers get out of control when I get over emotional. When I saw-"
"Okay." I said, "I understand."

He looked up at me with his blue eyes full of questioning,"Do you really?"
I nod, "Yeah I do. You saw a friend in danger and reacted. I do the same thing, that's why my tail was bleeding. I used the Stegon tail, and their spikes are frigile and sharp so I stabbed him in the leg before I thought twice."
He looked down and shook his head, his black hair waving side to side graceful.
" What? "I asked, tilting my head to the side.
" Don't worry. Now it's your turn. "He said looking at me.

" Well... " I started.

He smirked,"Come on Tails. I am waiting. "
