First two years in high school, he have been the starting setter of Karasuno. He fits well to the position; he was smart, tactical, very open more than anything. Sugawara's really a keeper. Everyone knows that. Turns out it was only temporary. Turns out he will fail to maintain being Karasuno VBC's setter until he graduates. Potentially athletic first years came. With their skills, their drive minus the experience, Koushi knew from the start that they could reach places he's never been to. Possibilities of countless victory lies ahead each of them, he couldn't deny that. That's when he hit a dead end. Coach Ukai have to choose between him and Kageyama for the starting setter. And he ended up giving way to Tobio. He sacrificed. He told you that the night he came to your house, and the usual smile in his face have disappeared. He was sad somehow. You could feel he is. In that moment you were proved of how mature he is, how far his understanding could go. He's too precious. You didn't care if people pity your boyfriend for being benched in his last year. For all they know Sugawara still hasn't lost his will to fight. He would stay, wait for chances, he would be on the court as long as he needs to be. Sugawara has wings too. He too is a clipped-wing crow that can soar in the skies once given an opportunity. Koushi can now fly wherever, because you believe he could.
