In middle school, he went by the nickname King. When you first heard the rumors, you imagined what kind of person they must've been to attain such a standing. He must be great, confident with what he does, kind to his fellow students or incredibly intelligent. King. You wanted to meet him. You wanted to meet him badly. See him, talk to him just once. You were curious of the said royalty. When you learned he is in fact a volleyball player, a setter with precision to his tosses and near to perfection calculations, desire to see him grew. Reality punched you hard on the gut, more than being splashed with freezing cold water when you watched one game and he was scolding his teammates for failing to match his sets. So that's who Tobio really is, you realized. He was indeed far from your expectations. Self-centered. Egocentric. Demanding. It didn't make you admire him any less. You weren't fazed by one single bit. People misunderstood him, despised him but you didn't. He fell hard for you then. Kageyama did because someone, out of nowhere came to his life, saw past his flaws and mistakes, loved him for the way he is and stayed. At his worst, at his best. He felt kingly just by having you alone. "If I'm the king," he looked at you eye to eye, stoic and emotionless, "...then that makes you my queen." The blush on his face would be sign enough. He mean it.
