Chapter 8: Nothing special

Elliot's POV

School's over. The rest of the day isn't worth mentioning.
I'm about to step out the school gates, when suddenly a hand grabs my shoulder and turns me around.
It's Darlene.
She looks pissed.
"Where were you?!"
"What do you mean?"
"We were supposed to meet in the cafeteria, dumbass!"
That's the thing I forgot while I was with Shayla!
"I-I'm sorry, I.."
I don't want say it. I don't want
her to get even more pissed
than she already is.
"...You?"
"I...got distracted.."
I'm looking to the ground embarrassedly.
"Oh my god, Elliot! I thought that would be a good idea for you to calm down a bit or whatever!"
I look up. I didn't expect that from her. She still looks pissed.
"Dude, I know you're not good with people, that's why I wanted to meet."
"Thanks..."
"Yeah, whatever."
She walks past me. She bumps my shoulder on her way.
I look after her. I start walking.
As I exit the gates I see her walking.
She's not waiting for the bus this time.

I sit down at the station.
I wait.

The bus arrives. I enter and find a seat in the corner.
There's a guy with blonde hair and blue eyes sitting in front of me.
He's looking out of the window.
Nothing special.
I plug in my earbuds that I have with me for emergencies. Or if I'm bored.
I'm in the mood for something calm.
I play "Where is my mind?"
by the Pixies.
I look out of the window.
Eh, I'm realizing that the original version of this song doesn't fit my mood. I switch to a piano version instead. This one sound way better right now.

This won't sound new, but I feel watched. Like someone's starring at me...
I look over to the blonde guy. He's looking at me. As soon as he notices that I noticed, he looks away. Strange...
Something about this guy bugs me.
Scratches that part of my mind.
He's wearing a button-up shirt with a tie.

Wait, button-up shirt...

That can't be. There are a hundred million other people with button-up shirts...

I get off at my stop. The guy is watching me through the bus window.

He's just creepy. Nothing special about him. Probably...
