School's over for today.
Tyrell and I are walking besides each other. He hasn't said a word since the cafeteria thing.
Some people are looking at us weirdly and I don't understand why. I put my hood on. Tyrell notices.
"Is something wrong?"
"The people. They're looking at us."
"Oh yeah.. I'm sorry, that's because of me. I'm kind of, what people would call, 'popular' which in that context means that I'm well known, but nobody really talks to me."
I look at him. I didn't expect that to be honest. I thought he was a people person. Another indication proving that not everybody is the way they seem at first glance.
"I-I thought you were one of those popular guys that everybody wants to be friends with?"
"Ha, I wish! Come on, let's hurry up."
He puts his arm around my shoulders and pushes me a little to walk faster with him. This gives me feelings I've never really felt before. My heart is going faster than usual.
I think I'm blushing too.
Huh, weird...He takes me to my bus station.
"So, this is goodbye for now."
"Y-yes.."
"Can I do something before you go?"
I look up to him.
What is he going to do?
"S-sure, what is it?"
"Can I have your phone please?"
"Oh. Phone number."
"That's right."
He chuckles a bit.
I give him my phone.
He pulls out his own and saves my number into it.
"Okay, got it!"
He gives it back to me.
"Au revoir, Elliot!"
"Bye, Tyrell!"
He smiles and turns around to go to his station.
I smile back.
I feel like this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.I'm in my room now.
And I think it's time to forgive Leon and Shayla.
I try phoning Leon first.
He doesn't pick up.
I try Shayla next.
"Hello?"
"Hi Shayla, this is Elliot?"
"Oh yeah, Elliot! Hi! Why are you calling?"
She seems giggly.
"I've decided to forgive you and Leon. Y'know the Tyrell thing?"
"I remember, yes. And thank you so much for that! Me and Leon were getting a little worried about you, are you okay?"
"I am, thanks for asking."
"So um, sorry if this doesn't necessarily fit the conversation, but what was up with you and Tyrell this morning?"
I knew that question would come.
"What do you mean?"
"You were walking together, talked and he grabbed your shoulders. I thought you didn't like the whole touching stuff?"
Fuck. What do I answer to this?
"I don't know, I guess he's different."
I shouldn't have said that. Now she's going to think we're together or something like that.
"Oh um.. okay, what do you mean with 'different'?"
"I don't know, for some reason I don't really mind him touching me."
This isn't going to get better any time soon, is it?
"Okay, maybe we can find that out together?"
"Look, I appreciate your concern, but I want to get to know Tyrell better first and see what happens before I involve anyone else in what we're doing, okay?"
"Woah, okay there, Mr. Strictypants..."
Did that sound too tough?
Shit, I'm worse at this than I remember.
"I-I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude.."
"It's okay, we won't interfere. Can you give me updates on what's happening between you and Tyrell though?"
I sigh a little. She really doesn't want to let this go, does she?
"Fine, but I won't tell you everything if I'm not comfortable with it, okay?"
"Nooo, of course not! Privacy is still a human right, right?"
"Y-yeah, exactly that..."
She laughs. I don't know what's so funny about that.
"Okay, you want to meet in school tomorrow? Should we tell Leon too?"
"Of course!"
"Okay okay, bye bye then!"
"W-wait Shayla, don't hang up yet!"
"What, why not?"
"Do you want your report now or not?"
She chuckles again.
"Oh yeah the report! I almost forgot about that! Shoot me, what happened?"
"S-so um, he told me a bit about himself in the cafeteria, and then after school he noticed that I was uncomfortable because people were looking at us, so he put his arm over my shoulders and walked me away from them."
"Awww, that's sweet! Anything else?"
"N-nothing really..."
She just called me and Tyrell sweet.
I think she's rooting for us.
"Alright, thank you so much! We'll talk tomorrow if that's okay?"
"Wait, what are you doing with that report? Writing it down?"
She laughs again.
"No you weirdo! I'm not a stalker!"
"O-oh yeah, heh..."
"Alright then, bye bye!"
"B-bye...."
She hangs up.
If I'm being honest, I didn't like the whole 'report' thing when she first brought it up. My opinion hasn't changed since.
I think I should talk to Tyrell about this.
