34. The one with the ring

Alex's P.O.V
John and I were in my car, we were holding hands while I had one hand on the wheel. Every now and then we'd look over and smile at each other.

      Finally, we pulled into the parking lot. I gave his hand a light squeeze. "You ready?" I asked. John sighed nervously "I guess.." he said letting go of my hand.

      We stepped out of the car. I read the words "Kings College" In big letters. "Wow" John breathed. "So... This is it." I said taking his hand again. "Yeah.. It is."

- 5 years later -

Alex's P.O.V
Alrighty. Everything is perfect. At 2:30 I'm gonna get everything ready. Johns gonna come around home from work around 3:00. Before he opens his door I'll come out into the hallway (the place we met) then, BAMB! On one knee. Let's just pray that he says yes...

      I heard my phone ring and I picked it up quickly, expecting a call from Lafayette. "Yyyyyyyyyellow?" I said. "Hey Alex! We're on our way. You ready?" I heard Lafayette say. Suddenly a wave of worry rushed over me. I sat down quickly.

      "God I-I dont know...." I said quietly. "Hey! You can do this! He's gonna say yes and you know it!" Laf said confidently. "But.. Will he?" I said nervously.

      "Yes! Now we're coming upstairs we're here." Lafayette hung up and I sighed. A few minutes later I heard a knock on my door. Must be them. I opened the door and in walked Laf and Herc. They had been together since the end of collage. The sisters were in Hawaii on vacation. Shame they couldn't be here.

I was getting ready when I got a text from John.

Love: Sorry Lexi. I'm caught up at work. I can't come home until 4:30 or so.

Lexi: What?! Tell your boss you need to get off at 3:00.

Love: What's so important about this anyways?

Lexi: I just wanna spend time with my boyfriend.

Love: Specifically at 3:00 pm on a Wednesday?

Lexi: ...yes.

Love: Aight fine but imma have to work from home later.

Lexi: Thank you. Alright see you at 3:00. Love you bye.

Love: Love you to Lex, bi.

"Close one" I said from. "Hm?" Herc questioned. "He almost couldn't come home til later." I sighed in relief again. "That would've been bad." Laf chimed in.

"So.." Laf started. "Can we see it?" He asked. "Why of course." I said lightly grabbing a small black box from my suit pocket.

I opened it slowly and Laf smiled. "Wow! It's gorgeous!" He said amazed. "I saw it and knew it was the one." I said proudly. "Awwwwwwwww" Herc said.

As we waited I fiddled with my key. Specifically the one with a turtle sticker on it. I sighed, nostalgic of the passed times with John. At least now I know I'll be spending the rest of my life with him... hopefully.

Johnny Boi's P.O.V
I was driving home from work. Maybe he just really wants to watch a movie with me at home or something. I mean.. Sure, the turtles can wait but.. why can't he?

I finally pulled up in the parking lot of our building. When I got to my door I searched for my key. As doing so I heard a door open and close behind me.

"John" I heard Alex's voice. I quickly turned around. "Hey babe!" I said happy to see him. He looked around us. "Ya know.. This hallway... we met in this hallway." He said smiling. "Oh yeah! You couldn't get into your room." I laughed.

"Now.. John. I love you so so much. And I always have." He said. He took a deep breathe and started to lower onto one knee. I was very confused. He took my hand. "You are My happiness and joy. My everything. And I would be more than lucky to spend the rest of my life with you." He said tearing up. He reached for something in his suit- Oh. My. God. OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!

I gasped as he pulled out a small black box. "So.. John Laurens." He opened it. Inside was a beautiful shining ring. "Will you marry me?" He asked quietly.

I put one hand over my mouth in disbelief. While he was still holding my other hand. I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes. I had no words...

No words except "yes!" I exclaimed nodding frantically. I saw him smile and slide the ring onto my finger. He quickly stood up and I kissed him.

We both cried and hugged out in the hallway. I heard the door open again and out walked Laf and Herc. "So?" Herc said. "It's a yes!" Alex said holding our hands up. Herc almost started to cry and Laf legit screeched in joy. We all hugged. And finally broke apart. "Lexi I love you so much." I said still tearful.

"John.. I will never stop loving you."
