1st of September, 7 a.m.

I crawled off my bed as I heard my alarm going off. I can be a morning person, sometimes. Just not on the first of September. After three months of summer break and doing nothing, school came back to bite me in the ass.

My name is Selena. Selena Marie Gomez. I'm eighteen years old and I'm going to start my last year of school, today. I don't really like school. To be honest, I hate school. Teachers hate me and yell at me all the fucking time as if I care about what they think of me. Let's say the principal knows me by name. I think he kind of has a love and hate relationship with me. It seems like he likes me but can't admit because I'm trouble.

I'm gay. I like girls and everyone knows besides my family. I didn't really have trouble coming out since I don't give a fuck about what people think of me. My family doesn't know, simply because I didn't feel like telling them yet. My dad thinks I do great at school. I might pretend I'm a good girl because of the money he gives me.

My dad is an asshole. He's an alcoholic and he's homophobic. He's barely here and when he is, he's drunk. My dad is really closed off, maybe that's where I got it from. I hate him and the only reasons I still do live with him is the money he gives me and my sister.

Monica Delia Gomez. She's fifteen years old. We're both very sarcastic and fight a lot, but I love her. I'd never leave my dad's house and leave her behind. She needs my protection.

I'm pretty popular, if I say so myself. Who doesn't want to be friends with the rich badass, right? I don't trust a lot of people though. I never asked to be popular, I don't really care about it.

My two best friends are Caroline Skyler Grace and Isidora Danielle Gomez. Yup, Gomez. She's my cousin. She's the only family member of mine who knows about my sexuality. Maybe because we're the same age, and get along really well. I've known Caroline since I was like six years old. We met in class and clicked immediately. Her, Isidora and I spend a lot of time together. They're two of the few people I wouldn't kill even if it was legalized.

I groaned as I put my alarm off. Here we go, I thought. I made a face at myself in the mirror as I was making my way to Monica's room. I sneaked in on my tiptoes, balancing all my weight on the front of my feet. I grabbed a pillow and smashed it on her face. "Get up, lazy ass. Time for school."

"Fuck off." Monica turned around and pulled her sheets over her head.

"Get the fuck up, I'm not going to repeat it, sunshine."

She got out of her bed and glared at me. "Fine." She sighed. "I really don't want to."

"Me neither, kiddo. Come on, this year will fly by."

"Oh look, Selena the optimist." Monica rolled her eyes and made her way to her bathroom. I scoffed and decided to do the same.

After washing my hair and blowdrying it, I picked out a nice outfit to wear. Black skinny jeans and a pretty white crop top. For your information, I only dress up nicely on the first school day, you'll never know if some new hot girl will show up. For makeup, I only put some mascara and lipstick on. I'd put more makeup on if I weren't this lazy.

"Where you at?" I texted Caroline.

She replied immediately. "Was at Isidora's. On my way to yours now."

"Monica," I shouted. "are you ready to leave?"

"Yes." She came running down the stairs. We both took a chocolate bar from the kitchen and put our shoes on.

"Be a good kid, okay?"

Monice rolled her eyes. "What am I? Twelve? You be a good kid." She narrowed her eyes at me.
