Selena's POV
I strolled into the building with my best friends. The second month of school had just started. It was now Wednesday, meaning I was already tired of this week.
I took off my shades that were hiding my puffy eyes. The night before was pretty hard. Monica got emotional again, causing us to talk about mom. My dad got home, sober, as well. He told us he misses her, making me cry.
"You okay?" Isidora threw her arm over my shoulder.
I nodded and shot her a weak smile. "I'll be good."
"We're here to talk, you know." Caroline butted in, a ghost of a smile on her lips.
"Yeah, I know." I sighed. "Thanks, guys." I dragged myself to my locker where someone was already waiting for me. "Katherine, get lost." I rolled my eyes.
"Come on, Selena. I just want to talk." She pleaded.
"Not today." I opened my locker, dismissing her.
"You say that every day." She sighed. "When are you gonna let me-"
"Never." I slammed my locker shut and faced her furiously.
"Selena, why are you so-"
"No, you listen to me now. I'm not a bad person!" I shouted. "You are the one who hurt me. Stop making me feel guilty about your mistake."
Suddenly everything started hitting me at the same time. Tears rolled over my cheeks uncontrollably. I slid down my locker, hugging my legs.
The bell rang a few minutes ago, meaning only Katerine and I stayed behind. She knelt in front of me and wrapped her arms around me. Her familiar scent made me feel calm again. Made me feel safe. As if the past eight months never happened.
But they did happen.
And that was the reason I pulled away.
"Please, go away." I whispered.
"I don't want to leave you behind like this." She softly said. "I still love you, Selena." As soon as the words left her mouth, they made me crumble in pain. The flashbacks raced through my mind, causing me to clamp one hand over my head and the other over my mouth.
Monica and I are sitting on the couch. We're kibbling while watching silly cartoons. "Why are we watching this?" She asks.
"What, I thought you wanted to." I laugh, obvious to the fact that she hates cartoons.
She rolls her eyes and throws a pillow to my face. "Change the channel!"
"Ummmm, what about no?" I chuckle.
"You're so childish, I can't with you." She snuggles up to me. "When's mom coming home?" My little sister looks up at me. "This business trip has been taking two weeks already."
"Tomorrow," I beam. "we'll be reunited again, tomorrow."
"Good." She smiles and returns her attention to the cartoons.
My dad bursts in, two hours later. Monica and I had fallen asleep but the loud sound of the door makes us wake up.
"Girls," My dad chokes out. His face pale and his eyes red from crying. "Sh-she-"
"Daddy, what's wrong?" Monica groggily says.
"I'm so sorry." He cries and makes his way towards us. "I-I'm sorry." He repeats while hugging us.
