Lydia found herself leaving her study group for one of her last finals and immediately pulling out her phone with a smile on her face. Alex would definitely tease the blonde if she saw how excited Lydia was at the prospect of having a text waiting for her from a certain goaltender.
Fred
I think babs is trying to kill us before playoffs
Lyds
that just wouldn't be a good PR move honestly
The blonde giggled as she unlocked the door to her car and began the short drive to her apartment. It had been two months since the Coyote's had hosted the Maple Leafs, and since then Freddie and Lydia had been texting constantly. At first the two had simply gotten to know each other. Freddie had told Lydia all about his family and Denmark, and Lydia had soon enough opened up to the man about her own family.
If you asked the girl why she felt so comfortable airing her dirty laundry to someone she had only known for a short amount of time, she wouldn't be able to answer. But she had found that despite his shy demeanor in the media, Freddie was hilarious and courteous and basically a perfect human being and Lydia found herself always looking forward to his texts and calls.
Freddie
how did your review session go?
Lyds
eh
its going to be my hardest exam for sure, ive just accepted it
Freddie
have some faith
I think youre gonna do great
Lydia smiled once again as she turned off her car and grabbed her things to walk into her apartment. She sighed as she could hear Alex yelling in Spanish, likely with her mother on the phone, through the front door. Peeking into the apartment Lydia couldn't help but get a little nervous seeing the boxes she had stacked in the living room. After her final exam in two days and graduation a day after that, Lydia would be packing up her car to ship across the country and taking a flight to her new home in Toronto. Even though she had talked to Ema and Auston both a ton, she couldn't help but feel nervous about moving to another country and potentially encroaching on the space of the young hockey star.
"Si mama, le preguntare," (Yes mom, I will ask her) Alex sighed into the phone, waving at Lydia as the girl entered their home. "Lyds do you want to do dinner with us after graduation or are your donors going to be here?"
"I think I'll end up with you guys. Mom is in the French Riviera with boyfriend number 60 and Dad said he would be here but his little robot will probably whine enough for him to dip early," Lydia said sourly as her best friend watched her with sad eyes. As much as Lydia tried to build up walls when it came to her parents, she never fully could even with the way they treated her.
"I'm going to go try and nap, wanna order in for dinner?" Alex nodded silently as she listened to her mother ramble on the phone. "Ok come get me when you want to order." Lydia entered her room that was so bare it almost made her tear up. She changed out of her tank top and jeans, pulling on a pair of nike shorts and a large sweatshirt.
Lyds
I appreciate that and you
