"It feels like we've been gone forever." Engineer admitted. It has been a few days without Sniper and Scout. The mercs searched everywhere and couldn't find them. They were starting to get worried.
The team, well, what's left of it, has a camp set up on the outskirts of the town they were at when they had Sniper and Scout with them. The mercs found out that the name of the town was Blackwater.
It's kinda risky, due to all of the zombies, but the mercs knew that Sniper and Scout would look for them there.
For a while, the team had to defend themselves from zombies, but now only a few come every other hour. Soldier and Demoman went out to search for Scout and Sniper.
"We've been walking for hours! Can we take a break?" Scout asks He falls, but luckily Sniper caught him before he hit the ground and helps him back to his feet.
"Are you thirsty?" Sniper asks. He pulls out his flask and shakes it around to tell if there was any water left in it.
"Here," Sniper hands the flask to Scout, "there's only a little bit left, but you can have the rest."
"No, you haven't had anything to drink in a while, either," Scout argues and pushes the flask away.
"You almost collapsed! You need to drink more than I do." Sniper tries to give the flask to Scout again, but he refuses.
Sniper sighs.
"I'm not drinking it." Scout states.
They've been walking for a while in the middle of a desert-like area. The sun was beaming down, probably giving the two mercs sunburns, and there was no sign of water or a town for miles.
"Fine, but I'm not drinking any either," Sniper stated.
"No, you should drink it," Scout argues.
"Nope." Sniper smiled. He put Scout's arm around him to help Scout walk.
"We need to walk a little more before we stop and make camp," Sniper stated. Scout was extremely weak, and could barely walk.
They walked a little more and finally stopped to set up camp in a small gorge. It was getting dark, so Sniper set Scout up against the side of the gorge and went to search for wood for a fire.
Sniper came back with wood and lit a fire. He crouched next to Scout and sighed, "you need to drink water."
Scout nodded weakly. Sniper held the flask up to Scout's mouth and he drank from it.
"Thanks," Scout mumbled. It was hard for him to talk.
"You're welcome, mate." Sniper smiled. Scout looked up at him and hugged him. Scout started crying. Sniper didn't question it, he just hugged him back and let Scout cry it out.
"Where could they be?" Soldier asked, but it sounded more like a statement rather than a question.
"I don't know, but we need to find them so we can get back home!" Medic stated.
The team was sitting around their campfire while figuring out where Sniper and Scout could be.
"Listen up, soldiers! There are two men lost out there and it is our job to find them! Who knows, they could already be dead by now! But guess what? We don't give up, do we?" Soldier shouted.
"No!" The team replied.
"Even if they are dead, we are going to inspect every inch of this land until we at least find their bodies! Who's with me?" Soldier inquired.
"Me!" The mercs replied, except for Pyro. He just made an "mrr" sound because of his gas mask.
"That was a beautiful speech. You made me shed a tear." Heavy beamed.
"Thank you!" Soldier shouted.
The night was calm tonight. No cries of nearby zombies, or people. No coyotes howling. It seemed too quiet.
Soldier seemed to notice it too. He stood up from sitting on a log and examined the horizon. Nothing. This was weird. Maybe nothing was wrong, and the team actually gets a peaceful night without zombies.
"What's wrong, Soldier?" Medic asked.
"I don't know. Something seems off." Solder responded. He squinted his eyes to see better in the dark. Something caught his and Medic's attention.
"Meine Freunde, we need to leave, now!" Medic shouted. He quickly gathered some of his belongings as his other teammates did.
In the distance, there was a massive horde of zombies after them.
"Run!" Soldier screamed. The whole team ran.
How will Sniper and Scout find us now? Medic thought. As the sun was rising, you could hear the faint chirping of birds as the glittering sun rays spread across the land.
There was just a slight breeze, and Sniper had never seen a sunset this extraordinary.
Scout was still asleep, and Sniper was taking in the view. Not of Scout! The view of the sunrise.
He took a piece of bread that Arthur had given him out of his backpack and started to eat it.
A few minutes later, Scout woke up, rubbing his eyes. He yawned, then got up and walked over to Sniper and sat next to him.
"Morning," Sniper smiled, "want some bread?"
"Sure." Scout smiled back. He had lines under his eyes, and you could tell he had cried the night before. Sniper reached into his bag and pulled some more bread out for Scout.
Scout dug into the bread like he hasn't eaten for days, and he hasn't.
"You thirsty, mate?" Sniper asked.
"Yeah," Scout stated, "but you must be thirstier than I am. You gave me all of your water."
"I probably am, but you are more injured," Sniper stood up, "I'm gonna go search for some water. You should stay here and rest."
"I want to come with you," Scout remarked.
"No, you're injured," Sniper stated. He handed Scout a rifle that Arthur had given them.
"This is the only gun, though. You'll need it." Scout tried to hand the rifle back to Sniper, but he wouldn't take it.
"Nope!" Sniper smirked and showed Scout his kukri. Of course. Scout laughed. Sniper headed off out of the gorge and searched for at least a small stream.
