When the mercs saw Scout collapse after puking out a strange black substance, Medic immediately directed Heavy and Soldier to carry Scout back to the house. He quickly laid the money down on the table to pay, then joined the rest of the mercs.

After laying Scout in his bed, Medic felt Scout's forehead. His head was warm. He probably had a fever, but that wouldn't explain the strange black substance Scout had puked out twice before losing consciousness. Medic paced around the room after he told one of the mercs to remove Scout's shirt. Scout was sweating profusely, the same as he was at breakfast.

"Uhh... Doktor?" Heavy said.

"Yes, Heavy?" Medic stopped his pacing, noticing the worry in Heavy's tone.

"There is something you need to see."

Medic walked over next to Heavy and looked at the sight in front of him.

"Mein Gott!" Medic jumped in terror. He saw Scout's arm. It was covered in a black spot down to the elbow. Medic had declared earlier that Scout was in a coma, but he didn't know the reason. He had suspected that it was because of his puking.

Medic needed to experiment, but they were stuck back in time, so he doesn't have any of his equipment with him. "What are we going to do?" Medic asked himself.

Scout was lonely. He didn't know exactly how long he has been in his "Dreamscape", but it felt like a long time. He had met the lady with the red dress again, and she told him about how he could stop this entity that was infecting his mind. He needed to keep driving and find the core of his mind. He just needed to head in the same direction. He knows that she isn't telling him everything.

Every night, Scout would get a strange feeling. A bad vibe, perhaps. He always gets a feeling that someone or something is watching him. Sometimes it was his mind playing tricks on him, but he is in his mind. The entity is everywhere.

Scout gazed up at the sky while driving in the rain, out in the forest. Something seemed off, yet everything is always off in his Dreamscape. He started to get worried. He looked around and saw black figures in the trees, as well as the sky. In the sky, he saw a large, ominous black shape. He knew exactly what it was. It was the entity.

He tried to drive faster, but they reappeared all around him. In the forest, on the road, in the sky. He pushed the gas pedal all the way down, reaching speeds of over 120 miles per hour. This was dangerous, but he needed to escape.

Scout could see it in the distance. It was the core! The lady stated that it would be big and red. That's exactly what he saw. He was getting closer and closer, but it was still a few miles away. All of a sudden, the figures stopped chasing him as he left the forest, entering a barren landscape. Sand, dead trees, and smoke.

He was almost there. He knew it. He was going to escape.

"...There is no escape..." a deep voice said. Scout's heart jumped as he looked to the passenger seat. There it was. The entity, sitting right next to him. No eyes, and a smile that stretched wider than it should. Scout screamed as he crashed his truck into the memory core.

Scout woke up with a massive headache. Am I still dreaming? Scout thought. His ears were ringing as if a grenade went off right next to him. He was alive! He opened his eyes a bit, but closed them and eventually passed out.

Fire. There was fire everywhere. A lady in a red dress was there, too. Scout opened his eyes to slits, just to see what was going on. Something was on fire.

When Scout was able to sit up, he didn't feel right. His left arm was black. He couldn't move it. He felt his stomach, realizing that something felt weird. He saw blood... lots of blood. On his hand, his stomach, and all under him. He felt so weak.

"...Scout? Scout, can you hear me?" He hadn't noticed, but the lady wearing a red dress was waving her arm in front of Scout's face.

Just by Scout looking in her eyes, she knew that his brain wasn't completely destroyed.

"...who... who are you...?" Scout asked, but could barely stay awake. He was losing too much blood.

"Oh, no. This is worse than I thought." The lady said, then pulled out what looked like a remote or controller, and pressed a big button on it.

They appeared in a completely white room, that looked really nice. This place is cool. Scout thought. He was still wondering why he was injured. The lady had a conversation with someone in all white clothes. Scout didn't know what they were saying, but he fell unconscious.

Scout awoke in another white room, with heart monitors attached to him. Where am I? Scout asked himself.

"Good, you're awake." The red dress lady said.

"What happened?"

"You drove a car into your memory core. I took you back to where we monitor dreams."

"Why couldn't you just do that before?"

"I just... couldn't."

Scout sighed and detached the heart monitors. "How long has it been?"

"A few days. You made a full recovery. Please don't detach those."

Scout ignored her. "How the hell do I make a full recovery in a few days?"

"Can't say."

Scout just stood there for a moment, impatiently. He wanted to get out of there. He wanted to see Sniper, and the beautiful city of Pompeii again. It's been forever. "So, when can I go back?"

Scout was still sweating in his sleep a lot. Medic was worried, as were the other mercs, especially Sniper. All the mercs were gathered around Scout one day. They didn't think he would make it. It's been a week. He's been having seizures and a fever as well. It was raining outside. The mercs didn't know what they would do without Scout.

Scout was panting in his sleep, still sweating profusely. He must be having a hard time. Suddenly, it just stopped. The sweating, the breathing, it all stopped. The mercs fell silent. Sniper took his hat off and looked down at the floor. Engineer and Soldier did the same. Pyro made a sad mumble. The rest of the mercs left after a while, but Sniper stayed behind.

"Scout, you were my best mate. I don't know what I can do without you." Sniper slid his hat back on, wiped away his tears, then walked wistfully towards the door. He stopped in the doorway for a bit, then turned around, ready to leave.

"...Snipes...?" He heard a weak mumble from behind him.

"Scout?" Sniper jumped around. Scout had gotten out of bed. He was alive! He looked dead, but he was alive! They ran towards each other. Scout wrapped his arms around Sniper's neck and kissed him, pressing their mouths together and breathing in each others' scents. Sniper was surprised for a second but after, he kissed back.

Sniper ran his fingers through Scout's hair. "I love you, Scout."

"I love you, too," Scout said. They both had tears in their eyes.
