chapter XXIII || end

After a lot of journeying, Sniper, Alyx, and Gordon made it to their destination. they made it to White Forest.

While Scout was inside, wandering about, he heard someone yell, "they're here! Alyx and Gordon are here! but... they're with someone else." Scout rushed to where the entrance was. Everyone was crowded there. the door soon opened. Scout wanted to see who these people were, especially the unexpected person that came with them.

Sniper, Gordon, and Alyx walked up to the big entrance of White Forest, and they opened it. Sniper saw a whole bunch of people there. he looked through the crowd of people, all cheering for them. everyone was wearing either, black, blue, or white, except for one person. that person was wearing red, like him. he walked closer as that person walked out of the crowd. It was Scout. they both stood there in shock, staring at each other. Sniper's eyes started watering as he dropped his stuff. he walked towards Scout, then ran. Scout was running too. once they met, they enveloped each other in a hug.

"I thought I'd lost you." Sniper pulled away from the hug and cupped Scout's cheeks.

"I did too." Scout was crying, but he did so happily, then they kissed. they heard people saying "aww" in the crowd around them. they pulled away from the kiss and hugged each other again.

"I love you," Sniper said.

"I love you, too," Scout said back.

they finally made it back to each other, after all this time.

Sniper and Scout eventually found the leader of White Forest, Dr. Magnusson. Due to his past, Sniper and Scout knew that he could help them get back to their timeline.

"So, you're saying that your friend made a time machine around a month ago, and you've been stuck in time ever since?" Another scientist that was in the room said.

"Yes. Do you think you can help us get our team and us back?" Sniper asked.

"What do you think, Eli?" Dr. Magnusson asked someone else in the room.

"I don't know, maybe we can, but it'll take about a week to find out how it works, and how to build it," Eli said.

"Kleiner? What about you?" Dr. Magnussen asked the other scientist.

"Yes, the process will be lengthy, but maybe we could get the vortigaunts to help us." Dr. Kleiner said.

"Ok, we should be able to help you, but you have to help us in return. The Combine are going to attack us with Hunters and Striders. If they get to us, we're doomed," Dr. Magnusson started, "back at the Citadel, the Combine are trying to escape through a portal, but we can't let them. We have a rocket we're going to send to them, but if the striders get to us, they'll explode the rocket and kill us all.

I have a secret weapon, the Magnusson device. I invented it myself. if you throw it at the strider's body, it'll kill them in one shot. the hunters are here to stop you from killing the striders, so you'll have to be on the lookout for them. you'll be going with Gordon." Dr. Magnusson pointed to Gordon, who was standing in the corner of the room.

Dr. Magnusson showed them the Magnusson device. It was round with spikes around it. He said that there were stations around the base where you could get more Magnusson devices. Once he was done explaining what they had to do, he showed them to more gravity guns, the same kind of gun that Gordon has. It was the orange and glowing one. He told them that they had to use the gravity gun to throw the Magnusson device at the striders, then told them to follow Gordon outside so they could get ready for the striders.

Neither Scout nor Sniper knew what a strider looked like, and they were both eager and scared to find out what it was. They soon made it out of White Forest and made it to one of the stations.
