CHAPTER TWENTY

Kate's POV:

We had just returned from a long day at the mall, and I was absolutely exhausted and famished. The idea of eating anything from outside was out of the question for me, especially since I was on medication. The thought of what they might put in the food made me anxious, so I always steered clear of outdoor foods.

As I wearily entered the house, I felt my legs wobble, but I quickly regained my balance so no one could see. Kay, always the kind soul, offered to make me something to eat. "Kate, I'll make you something. How does that sound?" she asked with a warm smile. "Yeah, that sounds wonderful. Thank you," I replied gratefully. Kay had been nothing but nice to me ever since she arrived, and I genuinely liked her. I hoped we could remain friends, even though I hadn't really had any close friends before.

Emerald and I were engrossed in a TV show when Kay appeared with plates full of fries and nuggets. The tantalizing aroma wafted through the room, making my mouth water. It was clear that Kay knew her way around the kitchen, and her cooking skills impressed me.

We ate, chatted, and laughed, completely engrossed in the TV show. It had been a while since I had experienced such a carefree and enjoyable moment. Time slipped away unnoticed, and before I knew it, I let out a yawn. I glanced at the clock and realized that Lucio hadn't returned yet. It was strange since he had mentioned he would be back soon. Why did I even care, though? We were just acquaintances, and I had convinced myself that we meant nothing to each other. But deep down, a small part of me wondered where he was.

"Guys, I'm going to bed," I announced, breaking the comfortable silence. Both Kay and Emms nodded in understanding, and we all rose from our seats, heading to our respective rooms.

Slowly, I ascended the stairs, taking cautious steps to avoid any mishaps. Once in my room, I decided to take a quick shower to wash away the exhaustion of the day. I slipped into one of the nightgowns I had bought earlier, relishing the silky smooth fabric against my skin.

As I plumped down on the bed, I closed my eyes and silently said a prayer in my head. Today had been unexpectedly great, free from any pain or harm. I hoped that this streak of positivity would continue, and that tomorrow would be just as wonderful.

Pulling the covers over me and snuggling into the part that smelled like Lucio his cologne was getting heavier in the air and more stronger I turned to the other side but the whole room smelled like him why did he have to sleep in here.

I got up off the bed and started walking around I thought I was going to fall asleep anytime soon but it just never came.

The oddly familiar door was open the room that Lucio clearly told me not to enter I walked towards the room slowly to close back the door but someone was in the room as I walked closer that's when I realize it was Lucio.

He was staring at the picture on the wall so I stood beside observing the woman's feature I had seen her but I just can't seem to remember.

"Curious aren't you huh Kate?" Before I could answer I was pinned to the wall. Didn't I tell you not to enter this room. "I-. You what huh Kate? I have to go".

"Why do you keep coming back to me Kate why?" I honestly don't know why I keep going back to him it's like he's a magnet and I'm the steel I wish I knew why I'm drawn to this man maybe I'm falling for him. So I gave him my honest opinion.

"I don't know". We were near on the verge of kissing his breathing got heavier my heart started to beat even more faster and if I even move we'd kiss he was leaning in when his phone rang. "Damnit" he mumbled under his breath and left.

I quickly went to my room and went to bed clearly not wanting to think about what just happened.

I woke up to the sound of my shower running. But how was my shower even on? I I've locked the door that's what I even thought stupid of me to forget to lock the door.

I quickly got up and started walking towards the door I was afraid it might be some weird person who've sneaked in my room or just playing around.

I was about to open the door but someone did that for me. I covered my eyes not wanting to see who it was. "Please don't hit me just take whatever you want".

"Why would I take something that already belongs to me good morning Kate" the voice said and I quickly opened my eyes and was met by green eyes and a bare chest. I don't know how long I was looking for but I could tell I was drooling.

He shook his head letting the water land it landed on my face and that woke me out of me almost getting lost watching Lucio bare chest.

"Uh good morning what are you doing in my room may I ask? Well you see Kate there's no hot water in my room so I decided to come here".

Isn't there like twenty rooms in this house what an excuse to come to my room weirdo well I said that only I could hear it I couldn't deal with his behavior right now.

"So what about the rest of the rooms? I said crossing my hands over my chest. "Well there occupied so I thought why not shower in Kate's room, and love wear something not too revealing don't want nobody to see what's under that". That's all mine he said whispering in my ears and backing away licking making the fireworks setting off in my stomach. What was he talking about though.

I looked down looking on what I was wearing seeing that my gown was almost see through and it was rolled up am I that blind I was about to say something then he left before I even start talking. That Lucio I'll show him.

What a jerk. I went in the bathroom to take a quick shower but what had me pissed was the floor was all wet what the fuck is he trying to do is he nuts. I was pissed coming back out the bathroom I slipped on my back.

My back connected to the wet floor as I let out a small groan. I knew this was going to leave a bruise so I got up holding on to the face basin trying not to slip again.

Getting up I took off my clothes slowly and went in the shower turning on the hot water as it stinged my now bruised body wincing from the pain I quickly did my business and went to my closet.

I pulled on a oversized sweater and a some basketball shorts. I walked down the stairs calmly so no one could notice what happened to me.

"Kate your awake thought you like sleep till twelve? Emerald said greeting me at the end of the staircase I would if someone didn't disturb my peace". I said rolling my eyes.

"Now who did that to you?"

"Well who else than your brother". And she chuckled.

"Well let's eat I'm starving". I said grabbing her hands. Walking in the direction of the kitchen.

As we entered the kitchen we saw Joseph caging Kay in at the kitchen counter.

"Ahem are we disturbing something?" and they both jerked apart with Kay cheeks turning a bright red. I could see that she likes him but Joseph liking Kay wow.

"Yes you were and Kay I'm not done with you" he said leaving.

"What was that all about?" we said approaching her. "Well nothing to be exact she said lowering down her head. "You like him?

"No I don't" she said denying the fact.

"Stop denying it I know you like him." 

"Okay okay fine I do like him but I don't he does well let's eat this is a topic for another time".

We all shook our heads taking a seat and started eating breakfast when some people decided to crash our little breakfast as the guys enter with their chattering.

I almost forgot that my back is bruised so I whispered in Emms and Kay's ear to follow me to my room as I need someone to rub the ointment on my back.

We got up and left I could feel Lucio stares piercing threw me but still I was feeling alot of pain right now to be in deep thoughts and what he'd do to me.
