look from afar but do not touch,
for she has thorns in her sides.
thorns that she has formed
to keep herself safe from
those who pluck with the
intention to throw her away.
her beauty deserves to bloom
for more than a day, with
those who will marvel at her
as she grows in a bush
and not as she dies in a vase.
