thunder coos me to sleep,
the rain drops wash away
my worries of the day,
they melt over me.
oh to be outside in this storm
that some fear,
oh to be tucked in a corner,
shivering with anticipation
for the next loud boom,
the next flash.
as the rain becomes more forceful
i become more relaxed,
for this is the first storm i have braved
without you,
and i feel easy knowing it won't be the last.
for you made me terrified of
the goddess that is mother nature
but now as i lay in my bed, listening
to her side of the story,
smelling the scent of the lavender she
grew for me, i now regret for ever being
against her divine
