Class was surprisingly more peaceful than expected as people decided to keep their distance away from me. I enjoyed it that way though as I could focus more on my studies.
The last bell of the day finally rang and I did a mini leap in excitement as I skipped out of the class room.
"Sohye, I have tutoring I'm gonna head off first." Chaerin says running quicker than the wind down the hallway. I don't reply as I just watch her sprint off. I sighed happy with how calm the day went. I didn't even have as many interactions with Taehyung, which was at first strange but I decided to enjoy the peacefulness.
Luckily, I bought some money with me today so on the way home I stopped by multiple street food stands treating myself to a nice rewarding meal. It was getting late as a dark blanket covered the once blue sky. Stars twinkled brightly under the full glowing moon as my steps got heavier due to the tiredness. As I got closer, I tugged tightly onto my bag straps as terror laced its fingers around me. The flickering daunting street lamps towered above me along the dirty, rubbish polluted streets. Cats hissed at one another clawing each others faces as dogs bark and growl. I hurried my footsteps towards the apartment building. Swinging the door open, I was about to climb up the stairs when I heard a grunt from around the other corner. Trying to ignore it, I stepped inside but as I walked further towards the staircase I kept feeling uneasy. I clearly knew someone was getting hurt. I could hear the grunts, laughs, punches, and kicks, but yet I ignored it. My conscience wasn't letting me off as I felt more and more guilty as time passed. Ultimately I got to my apartment room. I stare towards the door opposite mine, taking my bottom lip in between my teeth I walked steadily towards his door. Shaking with fear, I knocked on the door. Once, Twice, Three and four times. He didn't come out. I began yelling his name hoping that it wasn't him that was down there. My eyes darted in worry as I debated on whether I should go down or not.
Why am I even worried for that idiot? All he did was help me once and I'm going to foolishly let down my guard again? It's not my problem. He's strong enough, he can fight them. Or perhaps he's even the one who started it. Just go inside and rest, pretend you didn't hear or see anything.
I tell myself as I tried to turn away from his door and into my small apartment. I hesitated my hand hovering on top of the door handle. I cussed to myself as I stubbornly head back down the flights of stairs and out the door. I peeked behind the foul smelling wall of the building that wrenched of alcohol. A strong smell smacked me straight in the face digging up and pulling out the old nightmare of memories. The smell of drugs and burning weed made my nose scrunch in disgust and my eyes squint in utter hatred. (idak what drugs are like or what weed smells like btw I just know that they aren't good so...) Nonetheless I kept inspecting the fight scene. A male was definitely on the floor, grunting and whining in pain as the others beat him up mercilessly. I bite my lip in pity as I try to figure out a plan to help the poor boy. Suddenly a large man walked towards him. The men parted ways for the man, making it obvious that he was the leader. He grabbed a fistful of the chocolate hair and pulled his face upwards. He stared down deathly at the male smirking.
"You wanna mess with us? What are you anyways? Just some highschool student trying to be cool. Tch, forget it kid. You can never be a man by doing dirty business." The man spat in his face cackling. The boy mustered up enough strength and spat in the older mans face. I gasp in shock but quickly bring a hand to cover my mouth. I spun around hiding behind the wall, praying that they didn't hear or see me. It was silent for a while until I heard muffling again. I carefully, more skillfully peered around the corner once again. I watched in absolute horror as men surrounded the young male with bats in their hands. They chuckled as the guy struggled to lift his bleeding self off the floor. I decided to take action and whipped out my phone, quickly punching in the numbers to the police.
"Hello, this is 119 (Korean I'm pretty sure) emergency, how may we help?" The women spoke loudly over the line. I gasp loudly as I pull the phone from my ear and looked down to see that I had accidentally put it on speaker and you best believe it was blasting on full out speakers alright.
"Ah, shit." I whisper as I'm left in complete shock.
"Who's there?!" The boss of the gang yelled hearing the noise.
"I knew there was someone there before, after them!" He yelled and with that I break off into a full sprint down the street as multiple men chased after me yelling and cursing.
"Hello? Hello?" The lady repeatedly yelled through the phone. Just as she was about to put the phone down I halted her.
"Hello, there's an emergency a bunch of gang members have been causing trouble of xxxxxx street near xxxxxx apartment building." I puffed out while still trying to run for my life. The lady listened and responded carefully telling me to stay calm and near the sight to talk to the police. With that she hung up and I turned a quick sharp corner falling to a dead end in a dark alleyway. I moved to the very back, to the darkest point where it smelled the worst as I crouched down praying to the gods up above to have mercy. Woefully the gang members weren't stupid as they walked in scarily towards me. My eyes widened in fear as the leader stepped forward chuckling and smirking sickeningly.
"Wow, just my luck today; got to get back and beat up that pathetic chap and now I found myself with a beautiful young female." He snarls stepping closer, fidgeting with his golden rings on his sausage fingers. I began to panic as he got closer and the smell of weed and alcohol wafted off him.
"Say, beautiful, how long were you there for? Do you know that young lad?" He growled, placing a rough hand under my chin lifting my face up to meet his.
"W-Who was h-he?" I ask trying not to sound afraid but that was basically impossible.
"Who is he? You don't know him?" He asked smiling obnoxiously revealing his rotten teeth and his abhorrent breath. I shake my head trying not to breath in the nasty atmosphere.
"Well then, I guess it wouldn't hurt to tell you. That little boy over there; is the perfect diagram of what will happen to anyone who messes with me and doesn't follow what I say." He yelled pointing back to where I had just tried to escape from.
"And the same goes for you, princess. So behave and listen to me properly. Understand?" He says sternly staring deeply with his bloodshot eyes. He cupped my chin harshly when hearing no response and squashed my cheeks painfully together.
"I said; UNDERSTAND?!" He yells at me lifting me up agonizingly by my face. I nod frantically as I try to get myself out of this mess.
"That's a good girl." His voice softens as he lets go of my face and starts patting my hair.
From behind we could suddenly hear kicking and grunting. The large male took his hands off of me and turned backwards. I retreated back quickly behind the dumpster trying to get as far away from him as possible. Being behind the dumpster and not being able to see anything wasn't so bad as all I could do was listen to the many grunts and groans and throws, punches and kicks were sounded. It go quiet as I saw the man hit the wall, very close to my hiding spot. He looked up in pain, blood oozing from his lip as he looked towards the person who'd just bet him up. I held my breath trying not to catch his intention but unfortunately it didn't turn out so well as he lunged towards me and grabbed a bunch full of my hair, yanking my by the roots out of my hiding spot. I screamed in limitless torture as I felt like my hair was getting pulled right off. Tears streamed unconditionally down my face as I got yanked up onto my feet. The man held me harshly in his arms, his arm locking around my neck while another held a sharp dagger to my throat.
"Push me any further and I can guarantee you she'll die." He laughed psychotically. I opened my swollen eyes only to see 7 men standing back hesitantly. My eyes immediately caught on to one certain boy. Blood was oozing from his face and limbs as he stared at me, his eyes broadcasting fear and worry.
So, it was him.
"Why do you have her?" His raspy voice echoed in the narrow alleyway. The guys men were all twisting and turning slowly waking up from their short knock out session.
"Why do you care, little boy? She's so flawless and beautiful, we wouldn't want her to die just like that would we?" I shivered under the cold blade of the knife as it got dragged up and down my skin. Taehyung and his friends stood distant.
"Go ahead!" One of his friends yelled.
"Yeah, you think we care? We don't know her!" They say.
I close my eyes tight already knowing what was about to happen.
"Oh really?" He crackled, pressing the knife into my skin. Pain immediately struck through my body as I squirmed beneath the blade.
"Ooo, baby that's bound to leave a scar." He muttered against my ear. He kept drawing his knife slowly, make sure I feel every ounce of the pain there is.
The boys all look away, guilty and not knowing what to do. Taehyung stared, eyes wide open and mind contemplating on a way to help.
"STOP!" he yelled and the male looked up immediately. His action stopped and her took the dagger away as blood trickled down my neck. He smirked scoffing.
"Let her go. What do you want?" Taehyung speaks up looking towards the male with his beaten up, yet still handsome, face.
"Hmm, she must mean a lot to you, huh? Makes me want to play with her even more~" He says, dipping his finger on the blood and sucking it. Taehyungs fists bawled as he intensly watched.
