Taehyung was lying in bed still overjoyed with how his day had been. The adrenaline was still racing through his blood and he couldn't bring himself to calm down. His eyes traced the patterns on the ceiling. He turned around trying to smother his face in his pillows and fall asleep but couldn't do so no matter how hard he tried. He withdrew his head and sat up looking around the empty bed. He grabbed the pillow and smelt it, it smelt like her-her scent smelt like fresh strawberries woven in with rich roses. It wasn't particularly strong but it was there, that sweet rich smell, it belonged to her, it reminded him that she had once stayed by his side despite all his moody ups and downs. He felt a small smile creep up on his face as he hugged the pillow close to his chest.
Taehyung clambered out of bed dropping the pillow on the floor as he exited his apartment. He walked the few steps across that separated their homes. His toes touched the tip of her worn down door and his hand rested gently on the small doorbell, contemplating on whether he should press it or not. He chuckled, bringing his hand back and stepping backwards a step before looking at the time; 12:20am. Shaking his head in disappointment in himself he turned on his heel and took a step closer to his own door. However a bang from the other side caused him to shoot back around glaring suspiciously at Sohyes door. With Johnnys words ringing in his ears about her not opening the door, he took careful steps eyeing the door up and down, wondering whether he should get involved or not. Ultimately he bought his hand up to press the doorbell. He waited and waited but no one came to the door. He pressed again. And again. And again. He then attempted to knock. Still it was silent on the other end. His eyebrows drew together as his happiness died down and got overtaken with worry. Taehyung banged and banged on the door, damaging the wood and shaking the walls. He yelled for her on the other side but there was no reaction whatsoever.
He drew his hands back as sweat dripped down his forehead and his breathing became even more unsteady. After calming his breath a bit he went back to knocking and kicking trying his best to break the door open.20 minutes later....
The door finally broke open, falling to the floor. Taehyung squinted stepping into the small apartment and taking in his surroundings. His eyes darted from one broken object to another. His eyes scanned the floor from damp puddles to staining blood on the carpet. With everything that he laid eyes on he became more and more anxious. The apartment was eerily quiet as the curtains swayed in the darkness behind the slightly ajar windows. Taehyung looked around for a light switch as he began calling out louder for Sohye, but every time there was no response whatsoever. Every time he was answered back with misery and silence. He ultimately spotted some light seeping out from underneath one of the doors. He charged towards the door assuming it was unlocked only to be smacked in the face with the reality that she'd locked it before hand. He looked around frantically as he tried to call for her through the door. Still he heard nothing back. No response at all. His hands abused the door knob, violently shaking it trying to open the door.
He turned back to his method of knocking it right over. His shoulder was in so much pain but nothing at that moment was more painful than knowing that he can't get to her. He bashed and smashed into the door trying his utmost best to open it.
At last the door opened causing Taehyung to fall right into her bathroom. He got up immediately, recovering from his fall almost instantly as his eyes roamed around.
His breathing hitched when he saw her. His eyes shook and tears began to well as his hands shakily went towards her stone figure dangling above. He took shaky steps towards her, kicking the stool aside. His hands gently held onto her pulling her down gently and laying her out on the floor. He couldn't care less about the salty puddle that was underneath her feet at the time, or the blood on the floor, or the sick green substance in the toilet bowl. His blurry eyes were only fixed on her pale cold body lying lifelessly on the tiled floor. He knelt down bringing her towards him, clutching her stiff body tight to his chest. Tears dripped down his face as cries of sorrow leaked out of his lips. The regret he was feeling was ineffable. His cries became louder as every minute went by. With one hand he wrapped around her shoulders hugging her cold body close to his and with his other he squeezed her frozen hand tight, trying to warm it up even though he knows it's basically impossible. He looked down at her, her pale lips, her pretty eyelashes, her flawless face. She was beautiful. She was prepossessing. He cried harder seeing her face with dried blood smeared on it, seeing her swollen eyelids, seeing her messed up hair. His eyes traveled downwards and caught the vibrant colour of more crusty blood on her elbows and knees. His tears dripped down on her face and dirty uniform, there was too much he couldn't even wipe it away. He held her hand tighter bringing it up to his lips. He pressed her cold hand on his warm lips muffling his cries slightly. When he pulled away he realised the crusty blood still left underneath her nails. He closed his eyes tightly yelling out and crying while rocking her dead body in his arms. He buried his face in her messy hair, it still smelt like her. It managed to bring back memories of them being together. It bought back them first meeting, his first nitpick with her. It bought back everything. He cried harder smelling her scent."If only I'd acted better. If only I treated you better. If only I hadn't been so selfish. If only I had realised how much I love you, how much you mean to me. Maybe you wouldn't be lying here lifeless like this." He cried into her hair, hoping that she can hear him from up there or where ever she was.
"I'm sorry. I'm so so so sorry. I'm sorry, Sohye. I'm-"
"It's ok,"
Taehyungs eyes widened when he heard the familiar voice. He looked down at her face but her eyes were still closed. Her face was still lifeless. He frowned, his eyes swollen as he turned to his side. His eyes widened as big as they could when he saw her. Sitting next to him, long silky hair down and swaying gently at her sides. She was dressed in a long velvety white gown that made her resemble an angel. Her face was full of colour and her eyes glistened with tears but her smile was sweet and soft. It wasn't an over exaggerated happy smile, nor was it sad. It was a calming smile, a smile he'd only been able to witness once in real life. She looked absolutely stunning. A pale golden glow shimmered from behind her. She reached out her hand and placed it on top of Taehyungs hand that was holding her dead hand.
"Sohye-"
She placed another hand gently on his face. Wiping away the tear that was staining there. Wiping gently at his swollen red eyes. Her hands were forgiving and light. They were slightly warm to the touch like the sun on a breezy summers day. Taehyung pressed his face closer into her hand. She chuckled causing him to open his eyes and look at her. She looked so ethereal, like a goddess. She was diaphanous. She smiled harder causing her eyes to form beautiful crescents and her teeth to shine. Taehyung wanted to grab her, wanted to hold her and pull her into him right then but he hesitated for some reason. He didn't dare move when she stared at him in such a exquisite way. He was afraid now that any movement would cause her to evaporate like smoke and he'd never see her again. Never see that beautiful smile again.
"I don't blame you, Taehyung," She started. Her voice was mellifluous.
"It's okay because I don't blame you. I'm happy now that I'm here. I'm not suffering anymore. I guess you could say I was a bit of an eleutheromaniac, I desired freedom. This is my view on freedom. It's not your fault. I'm sunbathing in the Elysian Fields."
Taehyung closed his eyes tighter as more tears streamed down his face. He shook his head knowing exactly that all this happened because of him. Knowing exactly that it's his fault. Knowing exactly that if it weren't for him she wouldn't have died, she wouldn't have suffered so much pain and torment, she would have been happy and carefree. Maybe if it weren't for him she'd still be alive right now, living her life beautifully and freely.
"Taehyung," She let go of his hand and clasped his face with both her hands forcing him to open his eyes and look directly at her.
"I forgive you. I don't blame you and you shouldn't either. It's not your fault. If you keep blaming yourself and thinking that it's your fault then you'll have to inure through that for a while but I want you to remember that; whats been done is done, you can't go back and change the past. That's why you should make the most of your future. Be successful. Become everything that I couldn't. But if it all becomes too much. If you can't handle it, remember I'll always be here waiting for you." She pointed to his heart and smiled warmly. Taehyung was absolutely speechless as his tears still trickled down his face; this time a little more calmly and slower. His breathing was beginning to steady down and his mentality and emotional state weren't buzzing and becoming an out of control mess.Sohye smiled leaning towards him and kissing him gently on his forehead. Her lips were so soft and warm. Light and peachy against his skin. He closed his eyes savoring the feeling but once he'd open them again she was gone and all that remained was sparkles of dust.
