A day passed just like that. Turning the machine on was one thing but using it was something completely different too. Aron couldn't figure out how to get the portal to work and as much as he tried to walk into the light, he only walked out just the same. Baekho would sit at the corner of the room and watch Aron do his best since he wasn't much help. They even had JR come over to take a look at it but the knight didn't know what to do either. Although they managed to figure out how to use the panels, travel between worlds was still disabled.
"Maybe we are missing something," JR said while putting his hand through the light to see it poking out on the other side. He wriggled his fingers just to be sure the hand poking out was his own and it sure was. "There has to be a way to enter this... portal thing. Right now, we just seem to be looping back to our world."
"That's true but... what is it?" Aron questioned, rubbing his temples. He had even removed his suit and rolled his sleeves up. It was infuriating that there was no manual either. Baekho got up from his position and headed up the stairs since he was starting to get hungry and sitting there wasn't going to help anyone or himself. He headed to the kitchen where some maids quickly served him food. He felt guilty that they treated him so nicely but was thankful at the same time. He thanked them and munched on the sandwich. He found himself walking with no proper sense of direction. It was like he felt lost without Minhyun.
He couldn't do anything either or just didn't feel the motivation for it. All he wanted was for Minhyun to be back safe and sound. He stopped walking when he realised he had reached the rooms of the previous king and queen. He wondered if whatever missing piece JR and Aron were talking about could be found in the previous king's sleeping quarters. It seemed like the obvious place he would hide something to Baekho so he entered the room that had been mostly cleared out. There was still a couple of drawers and cupboard left since it had been converted into a storage area.
Baekho started looking through the drawers, most of them being empty or keeping weird stuff that he didn't know what it's usage was for and didn't think he should touch them unnecessarily. He found a jammed drawer and just used his brute strength to force it open. It popped open to his surprise, making him fall onto the rather dusty floor. He coughed and waved his hand to hopefully clear out the dust that went up into the air. He looked inside the drawer and noticed a bracelet looking thing that had similar design to the huge ring of the machine underground. He picked it up and rotated it. There were a couple of small dials on it and it was blinking little blue lights too. He wasn't sure if he was just pure lucky but this could be what they needed, right?
He slid it on without a second thought and checked the drawer again. There was only one bracelet and nothing else inside. He shut the drawer and pushed himself up, hastily making his way back down to Aron and JR.
"Guys!" He called out to the two who turned to look at Baekho.
"Yeah?" Aron replied. Baekho waved his wrist in front of them and they were both cofused. "What is it?"
"I don't know. I found this upstairs in the king's old room. I mean the old king's room?" Baekho pushed that thought away as he showed them the bracelet that was around his wrist.
"And?" Aron asked, raising a brow. He still couldn't understand what Baekho was trying to show him. It looked like an ordinary bracelet to him. JR inspected it closer, turning Baekho's wrist to get a full view.
"Can you try sticking your hand inside, Ki- Baekho?" JR asked, correcting himself before Baekho could ask him to stop with the formalities.
"Eh? Sticking my hand inside where?" Baekho asked innocently.
"Into that pool of light."
"Oh..."
"If your hand comes out the other side, it means it's not going to work," JR responded and Baekho hurried to the light. He stuck his hand inside, shutting his eyes unconsciously. He only felt a small tingle around his fingers as they went beyond the light and he heard both JR and Aron gasp. "It's not coming out the other side..."
"Does that mean we need that bracelet to travel between worlds?" Aron muttered. Baekho opened his eyes to look at the two males who were busy discussing with each other. He pulled his hand out, thankful it came back in one piece without much difference.
"Baekho, how many bracelets did you find?" Aron asked once they were done discussing.
"Just one?" Baekho replied.
"Damn it... we aren't capable of reproducing it and we don't know how to properly use it too. It's a huge risk to actually do this dimension travel thing," Aron huffed, placing his hands against his hips. "Can I take a look at the bracelet?"
Baekho thought for a moment. If the bracelet was what that would allow him to travel between dimensions and hopefully save Minhyun, he didn't want to let it go. He held the bracelet and gave Aron the puppy stare.
"No... you can't be serious. You can't leave your people alone here," Aron said, knowing full well what that stare meant. "Minhyun isn't around to run the country so you have to take responsibility."
"But-"
"No. You can't go," Aron snapped, making Baekho flinch. The other hadn't snap at him before or gotten angry so it was a shock to him. He gripped the bracelet tightly.
"No. I'm not letting anyone else go either," Baekho said defiantly. Aron gasped and tried to take the bracelet from Baekho. JR quickly stepped in between them before they could break into a fight.
"Calm down, both of you. Now isn't the time to fight over this. We need to discuss this properly."
