A death in the team

"Bucky was awake when you opened your eyes. He didn't want to move. You were just to cute snuggling to his chest. "Hey babe." You say in you raspy morning voice. He kissed your forehead. "We have a mission today doll." You nodded as you began to get up, much to Buckys disappointment. "Bucky What if I mess up again?" Worry fills his lovingly eyes. Those eyes you adore. Those blue eyes. "Oh doll." A single tear rolls down you cheek. He kissed it away. He hugged you. "You aren't perfect, none of us are, we all make mistakes. You are a strong, loving, gorgeous woman and I love you. I love your flaws, I love your scars, I love your mistakes too. Your not perfect but your perfect to me." He kissed you sweetly. His lips were soft against your own. How did this flawless man love a freak like you? You didn't know but you were glad he did.

You changed into a black suit. Similar to your boyfriend's. But fit for a girl with you strength, powers, and flexibility. You put your hair into a long/short ponytail. By the time you and Bucky were ready and fully geared it was almost Time to leave. Tony, Steve and Clint were already down there. You were only waiting for Natasha. After she came down everyone boarded the quinjet.

"So you and Barnes are back together?" Tony questioned. "Yeah. Despite his past he is really sweet." Tony nodded. "I still don't trust him completely, but if you're happy I'm happy." "Thanks tony." Tony was like a father to you. You trusted him with your life. Bruce was helping you with some of your self esteem issues and slight anger issues. Yes it was helping but you still have a long way to go.

"Hey Nat." You said. "Hey y/n." She replied. "Why were you late? You of all people are never late." "It is none of your business. If you want to no bad enough then you'll have to beat it out of me, hydra project." She said coldly. "Don't talk to her like that." Bucky snapped. "Why. You may be the winter soldier but I'm not afraid of you Barnes." "You May not be afraid me right now but I can make you afraid." Bucky rapped his arm around you protectively. "Sorry I ju-" "Just leave us alone ok." Bucky spoke harshly. "Bucky baby that was a bit harsh." You wisper. "S-She called you h-hydra project."  Then you saw the tears in His eyes. One slid down his cheek. "Oh Buck it's ok. I got you hydra isn't gonna take you away from me." He looks at you with worried eyes. "I'm not worried about me." "No one is going to hurt me."

The Quinn jet landed in a small opening in a forest. You were with Steve and Bucky , Tony was with Clint and Natasha. You were only about a mile out from the base. Soon you were there. Nat Tony and Clint were going to clear the outside while you Steve and Bucky were working on the inside.

"Steve this is one of the two remaining hydra bases." You say as you hacked the computers. "The last one is in Richmond Virginia." Suddenly a loud explosion erupted from the other side of the the building. The roof began collapsing. "We need to get out of here." Bucky yelled. Five hydra agents came in. "None of you are leaving." The lead agent said. "I think we'll manage." You say. "Oh I doubt that. Two more bombs are set to go off in 3 minutes, one of them is in the room next to you. The clock is ticking." And with that she locked the door and left.

Minutes later a explosion rang out. The room. Began to collapse. Chunks of concrete fell on top of you. Something hitting you in the head was the last thing that happened before the world went dark. 

You looked up to find Bucky standing over you. His face covered in soot and blood. "Where's Steve?" You croaked out. "I don't know. I'm going to look for him you stay here." Despite his orders you began looking for him. Then you saw something you wished you wouldn't have. Steve laying there with a shard of concrete through his stomach. "Steve!" He groaned. "Your gonna be ok." He shook his head. "Take this you deserve it." He pointed to the shield. You nodded sorrowfully. "Bye Steve we'll never forget about you. I promise."  You squeezed his hand gently. "You can go see Peggy and finally rest." A tear fell on to his chest. "Take c-care of Bucky. He needs you." With that he was gone. You stood up and walked towards the vast piles of rubble. You found Bucky digging frantically. "Buck he's gone." Tears fell from his eyes. "No! Nonononono. I promised to protect him with my life." "I'm sorry baby. I-I tried but....." You began sobbing. Bucky rapped his good arm around you. Both of you just sat together and cried.

In the quinjet 

"So you're the new captain." Bucky said dryly. "I guess so, I don't think I ever live up to the title though." "Steve wouldn't have given it to you if you couldn't. He was a good man." "He was a great man." 

Bucky said a few words at Steve's funeral. He cried. After he sat back down he laid his head on your shoulder. You ran  your fingers through his hair. You kissed his head. "Good job Bucky." That was all that needed to be said. Nothing more, nothing less. Just that.
