Raina POV
"Happy birthday!!" A high voice cut through my dreams. "Wake up! You're turning 21 today!" That got my attention. I sat up groggily.
"Already?" I asked. My new friend Kirstie was standing over me, holding a cup of coffee. I reached for the mug but Kirstie pulled it away.
"You don't get this until you get out of bed," she said, smirking. I narrowed my eyes at her in extreme displeasure.
"Kirstie Maldonado, if you don't give me that coffee right now, you will regret it for the rest of your life." Kirstie just laughed. I jumped out of bed and started to run at her. Unfortunately, I am not very fast in the mornings. She ran into the kitchen faster then I could get to the door of my room. She stopped in the kitchen for a moment and I got a head start. I jumped at her and tried to grab the coffee out of her hand.
"Okay, okay!" she said, putting her hands up in surrender. "You're out of bed, at least." Kirstie handed me the warm mug. I put on the table and gave her the death-glare to let her know that if she even thought about touching that cup of coffee, she would rue the day she was born. I ran into my room and grabbed my phone. I brought it to the kitchen and started blaring music from my favorite singing group, Pentatonix.
They were mostly a Capella, but they sometimes used instruments. The only thing I didn't know about the group was what their members looked like or their last names. I wasn't really super interested in that. It would be interesting to know, but you know. It's the music that matters.
The song "La La Latch" was playing when I looked up from my coffee to see Kirstie mouthing the words. It looked like she was doing it subconsciously, like she knew the lyrics by heart.
"Kirst?" I asked.
"Huh?" Kirstie said, coming out if a daze. "Yeah, Raina?"
"Do you like the band Pentatonix too? I saw you mouthing the lyrics..." Kirstie nodded and a little smile played on her lips. I nodded and went back to focusing on my coffee.
Kirstie POV
I grinned to myself, thinking about the truth about my thoughts on Pentatonix. Of course I loved the group! I was in it! I was the only female singer in the famous group of 5. When I met Raina, she didn't fangirl over me, which was refreshing. At first I thought she just wasn't a fan of PTX, then I realized that she was a HUGE fan. She just had never seen our pictures. She was there for the music. I appreciated that.
Raina and I had been friends for about 2 months now, and today was her birthday. And I had the perfect surprise.
I was startled out of my thoughts when Raina spoke.
"So, what are we doing today?" Those 6 words put my plan into action.
"Well, I thought we'd go to a movie today, then I have a little surprise for you tonight," I said, choosing my words carefully.
"Oh, what is it?!" Raina squealed.
"I can't tell you!" I grinned at her. "So what movie do you want to see?"
