Raina POV
All of Pentatonix gathered around a table with me at the head. Kirstie ran into the kitchen and brought out one of the most beautiful cakes I had ever seen. It was covered in music notes and the frosting was a light sky-blue, my favorite color. When the cake was cut, I saw that it was chocolate, my favorite flavor.
"Kirstie, i didn't know you could cook!" I exclaimed, surprised.
"Well, you learn something new every day." Kirstie replied and sat down. I bit into the cake. It was delicious. For a couple of minutes, none of us talked. We were too busy eating the cake. When the silence was finally broken, it was Scott that spoke.
"That was great, Kirst!" he said, grinning and trying to scoop up more crumbs onto his fork. Everyone at the table nodded, except Mitch, who I noticed looked a little subdued. I looked at him with a worried expression on my face. We made eye contact and he noticed my expression. I'm okay, he mouthed. I nodded, not quite believing him, but deciding to leave him alone. The next thing I knew, he was getting up from the table, claiming that he had to get some sleep. Kevin offered him the guest room and he accepted. We all bade him a good night and immediately started a game of Monopoly, on Avi's suggestion.
Mitch POV
I walked up the stairs, thoughts swirling around in my head. It was getting to be too much. I couldn't be around him anymore tonight. I walked into Kevin's guest room and locked the door. I flung myself down on my bed, burying my head in the pillow and starting to cry. My mind was filled with his perfect blonde hair and his beautiful blue eyes. I had liked him since I was 14. Scott Hoying. My best friend.
The only problem was that he didn't like me. He was dating Alex, someone who I had met once and immediately hated. But of course, I was a bit biased. I didn't want Scott dating anyone but me.
My tears were soaking the pillow as I tried to get myself together. Mitch, calm down. Calm DOWN! It was no use. Sobs were wracking my body when I heard a knock at the door.
"Mitch! Let me in, are you alright?" It was Kirstie. I knew I could trust her. I walked over and opened the door. She walked in and saw the tears on my face. She immediately wrapped an arm around me and reached behind her to close and lock the door. She walked me over to the bed and we sat down. "What's wrong, Mitch?" she said, her face etched with worry. "Is it Scott?"
"H-how did you know?" I gasped through the tears that were still streaming down my face.
"Oh, Mitch. I've been your friend since highschool and I'm really good at reading people. The two combined made it sort of obvious." I laughed a bit, then nodded.
"Yeah, it's Scott."
"Tell me what's wrong, Mitch. I think you need to get this out. I won't tell anyone, I promise." Kirstie said, staring into my eyes.
"Well, I've liked Scott since I was 14 and he doesn't like me. Also, he just keeps doing things that make me love him more! And filming Rather Be was torture! It was us, together, almost the whole time! Plus he wrapped his arm around me for the selfie shot. It was terrible!" I broke down again as Kirstie rubbed my back consolingly.
"Mitch, I never knew that you liked him. I just thought that you two were fighting about something as friends or something. I am so sorry. I know how you feel," Kirstie said, hugging me close to her.
"Wh-who do you like?" I asked, sitting up and looking at her.
"Promise you won't tell ANYONE?" Kirstie asked. I nodded and waited for her to continue. "Well, it's Avi. I've liked him since the day we won the Sing-Off. I understand completely what you're going through," she said. We hugged and she got up.
"Mitch, you should get some sleep. If you ever need any help, come to me, alright?" I nodded and got under the covers, not caring that I was still in my clothes.
"Goodnight, Kirstie." I said as she turned out the light.
"Goodnight, Mitch. See you tomorrow." Kirstie walked out of the room and closed the door behind her. It wasn't long till sleep claimed me.
