A hush filled the room
Where the old women rocked.
A silence awaited
The young teen at his home.
I sat down alone and listened to the night.
The rain fell down on the dirty window pain.
Titter tat. Titter tat. Titter tat.
The wind howled and whistled.
Ssssssh
The house was empty
Except for me.
I was alone
As far as I could see.
If I was truly by myself
Then why is there knocking
Coming from the other room?
I went to explore,
To see what horror was at hand.
There was a surly a knocking
Yet no one was there.
A chill ran down my spine.
I rushed to my room.
I locked the door
And paced around the empty room.
I stood by my bed
And covered my ears.
I was trying to block out the awful noise.
Knock knock knock.
It followed.
Just then something grabbed my ankle.
A tear slipped down my face.
My life was but a glimpse
As it flashed before my eyes.
The hairs on my neck stood on end
And an awful chill ran down my spine.
I wasn't alone
After all this time.
