Preparation: Initiation

Waking up from Ezio's memories, I saw everyone else yawning and getting up. As I checked myself, making sure I still had all my weapons and such, a hyperactive girl stood over her sleeping friend.

"Waaaake up sleepy head! It's morning, it's morning!"

He sighed, obviously having seen this one too many times before. Chuckling, I got up and walked over to Daphne, who had curled up into a tiny ball inside of her sleeping bag. She was smaller than an average sixteen-year-old and she said she liked it because it made her a smaller target. Gotta say, I agree with her.

"Hey, wake up Daphne, it's morning."

She waved me away, her way of saying "ten more minutes".

"Get up Daphne."

She remained curled up in her sleeping bag cocoon.

"Either you get up of your own volition, Daphne, or I kick you awake. What will it be?" I was not joking about kicking her awake, I never did.

She groaned, sitting up. Shooting me a glare, she checked her things as well before rolling her bag away and walking with me to the locker room. Opening my locker, which was right next to Daphne's, I gazed at all the tools I brought. Deciding to have a regular Hidden Blade (as in one that doesn't bypass Aura) on my left arm, as well as a Hook Blade on my right arm, I placed the recreated Sword of Altair in my locker and took a quick look around. No one was paying us any mind. Stuffing the Hidden Gun, Poison Blade, my right Hidden Blade, Aura-bypassing Hidden Blade, my crossbow along with ammo, blowgun with ammo, and my rope darts in the locker, I closed it and took a quick look at myself with the help of Daphne and her Scroll.

I had Shadows resting on my left hip, throwing knives located on both my shoulders instead of just one as well on my sides, my two handguns in their holsters, and a nice dagger resting just above my sword. Giving myself a nod, I helped Daphne examine herself.

She had her katana named Light on her left hip, a back-up dagger on her lower back with the hilt sticking out to the right, only one knife bandolier (which was on her left shoulder), and she had pistols holstered in the way Edward Kenway had his. Making her show me what Hidden tools she had on, I saw she had gone with the Hidden Blade/Hook Blade combo like me.

"Alright, let's get some grub then head off to the cliff. You ready?"

"Yeah. I mean, we're just getting dropped off."

I chuckled. "Yeah. This'll be a breeze."

My mind flashed back to last night.

Flashback, last night...

I was woken from Altair's memories. I didn't mind too much, the memories I chose to relive were ending either way. Opening my eyes, I saw Ozpin hovering over me.

Standing up, I looked him straight in the eyes. "Oh, Professor Ozpin! Did not expect to see you here this late. Is something wrong?"

He smiled. "Take a walk with me."

"Okay. I don't have anything better to do."

We walked out of the ballroom and Ozpin took a sip of his favorite drink: hot chocolate. Nothing was said until we were well into the gardens with no one to overhear us talking.

"I know that you and your sister are Assassins."

I drew Shadows faster then he could react and placed it to his neck. "How the hell do you know that, and how do you know about the Assassins?" I kept my voice quiet as to not draw attention to us, but I was still firm.

He simply chuckled, held his right hand with his mug still and raised his left hand in surrender. Moving his ring finger back and forth on his left hand, I looked at it and saw... charred skin in the shape of a ring? "How do you think the Master was able to get you two fake documents to get yourselves into Beacon?"

I kept my blade held to his neck. We've had traitors before who bore our mark.

"It was because he asked me to give you two access. As a matter of fact, I had an Animus installed over the summer, just for your mission to train Ruby Rose into becoming one of us. Anyways, as for initiation tomorrow, the others don't know this but I do. You won't be getting dropped off via Bullhead but rather we'll be launching you off Beacon Cliff. Be prepared. Good night, Master." He gave me a wink. He knew how much of an inspiration I was to the order. My sister was only a Veteran amongst the order.

"And what rank could you be, Assassino?" I had returned my blade to its sheath.

"Just a Warrior. You two are my betters, both in time in the Creed and in skill." He started to walk away.

"I'm not too sure about the latter, but thanks for the compliment either way. Good night." I returned to the ballroom and sat back down in the corner.

Closing my eyes, I dove into Ezio's memories.

Present day...

I took a bite of eggs. Finishing my meal, I returned my tray and cutlery to the lunch system and made my way to Beacon Cliff. Standing on a launch pad, I waited as Ozpin, who I now knew was one of us, explained the rules of this initiation as well as what our objective was. Getting ready for launch, Daphne gave me a weird look.

"What are you preparing for?" She was to my left and didn't notice the kid right next to her get launched.

I smirked and counted down on my fingers. Three... two... one... scream.

Daphne was launched and screamed at the top of her lungs. I was launched next and as I started to fall back down to the earth, I quickly figured out a landing strategy.

Deploying my Hook Blade, I snagged on the trunk of a tree, which slowed me down as I carved a nasty gash through the flesh of the tree. My momentum ended up being completely stopped and as a result, I hung from an arm, gazing at the forest dirt below me. Sucking in a deep breath, I relaxed my right arm and my Hook Blade returned to my sleeve, causing me to fall and lightly twist my ankle on a tree root I hadn't seen. Clenching my teeth in pain, I sat down and examined the injury.

Nothing serious. I just need to tough it out. Let's go.

Getting up, I started to make my way to the forest temple, keeping an eye out for Daphne as I did so. Seeing a bright sphere of light suddenly shoot out amongst the trees, then vanish, I knew exactly who that was.

Drawing Shadows, I ran towards the epicenter of the sphere and there I saw Daphne skillfully dispatching a group of blinded Beowolves. Walking up, I stabbed my blade through the skull of a Beowolf that was trying to crawl away.

"Missed one."

Daphne spun around to lock eyes with me. Smiling, she started to run towards me to give me a hug, but then stopped as her smile turned to a frown.

"Uh, Daphne? What's-?"

She cut me off with a hard slap. "You knew about that, didn't you! You know how I hate being jostled around like that!"

I chuckled. "It's in the past, Daphne. Let's get a move on, we're burning daylight here."

She angrily blew a bang of chestnut hair out of her eyes and stormed off. I couldn't help but chuckle as I followed her.
