Chapter 1 - The Fake (May 26th)

"Mission is a go." Kelsi hears her brother speak in her earpiece.

"I know Kai, I've done this hundred of times before," she responds.

"Actually this is around the two hundred and twenty-seventh time." He argues as always.

"Whatever. Just shut up and let me do my thing." Kelsi says and ends the conversation.

She takes her earpiece out and crushes it. Looking at the beautiful night sky, not a single star could be seen. How sad. It would be pitch black had there not been such bright lights that could be seen from the building's windows. Sky Palace, a prominent building owned by multi-millionaire, Mr. Anworth in SkyRock City. Kelsi shivers in the windy night, her red hair flowing past her shoulders. It was normally straight, but she decided to curl it for tonight. She scrunches up her beautiful dress in her fists. It had long black sleeves and a tight top that transitioned into a soft gown and an ombre of green sparkles which complimented her figure.

She smoothes it out as she mutters to herself, "be bold. Confident. Put on a smile." The words made her feel powerful like a queen who was ready to conquer as her mother had once told her. Taking a deep breathe she entered. There was a party tonight in celebration of Mr. Anworth handing his company over to his son, Emmerson Anworth. The perfect mark. His arrogance will blind him from the truth. As she entered the party she looked around and wasn't surprised to see a lot of people. There was family, other rich and close friends, company staff as well as competitors. Her eyes scanned the crowd and she saw Emmerson at the bar and approached slowly. Kelsi knew exactly where to stand. Not next to him but close enough to be in his peripheral vision so she could catch his attention.

"Shot of vodka please," she said to the bartender and gulped it down quickly asking for another one, "open a tab."

"What's someone like you drinking shots alone for?" A voice asked.

It was Emmerson. First step complete.

"Well," Kelsi said, eyeing him up and down and then narrowing her eyes. "I won't be drinking alone if you have a shot too."

She passed one of her shots to him which he took making her smile.

"So," he said, after a while, "what are we drinking too?"

"Well, you're getting a new company handed to you," she said as if in thought, "to new beginnings?"

"To new beginnings," he agreed.

"What about you?" Emmerson asked after.

"What about me?"

"Any new beginnings for you?"

"Hmm...haven't been to this city in a while and I'm currently drinking with one of the richest guys in town so yeah. Definitely new."

He laughed, "Rich. Right. You know what? I've got to go."

Emmerson finished his drink, paid for both mine and his tab and was about to walk away, but Kelsi grabbed his arm before he could leave.

"Look, I didn't mean it like that. You don't really know me," she said after a pause, "but if you'd like too, come to Feather, it's a bar downtown. After midnight is when the real fun starts"

On a slip of paper, she wrote her number down and slid it in his pocket. "The name's Alana," she whispered and walked away.
