Kelsey's POV
"Now, we know what it sounds like..."
"Good, I was worried you thought you were making sense." I laugh coldly. This is all so absurd we're all trying to move on and they throw this insane idea into the mix. My already fragile and gullible heart can't take it. "Tony, after everything you've seen, is anything really impossible?" My dad asks and I sharply turn away from his concerned stare.
"Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck scale, which then triggers the Deutsch proposition. Can we agree on that?" Tony asks looking around at the visitors expectantly, and I find myself dumbly nodding along out of habit.
"In Layman's terms, it means you're not coming home." He continues and I'm starting to notice he's getting fidgety which means his anxiety is kicking in. They've put to much pressure on him within the span of two minutes.
"I did."
"No, you accidentally survived. It's a billion to one cosmic fluke. And now you wanna pull off a... What do you call it?" His voice is growing impatient and he turns to me giving that look that says 'can you believe these people.'
"A time heist?" Scott mumbles trying his best to not act hurt like we didn't just repeatedly stab his pride. "Yeah, a time heist. Of course, why didn't we think of this before? Oh, because it's laughable? Because it's a pipedream?"
"The stones are in the past. We can go back and get them." Scott continues like Tony's not speaking. "We can snap our own fingers. We can bring everyone back." Now my head is starting to hurt from my swimming thoughts.
"Or screw it up worse than he already has, right?" Tony shoots back.
"I don't believe we would."
"You don't know that. None of us know how the stones work, and I don't think we know anyone strong enough to control their power." I add catching my dad's full on attention for the first time. "Kels maybe you should go inside..."
"As an honorary Avenger she stays." Tony adds, and despite the circumstances Nat smirks hearing this.
"High hopes won't help if there's no logical, tangible way for me to safely execute said time heist. I believe the most likely outcome would be our collective demise." Tony states again looking them all in the eyes silently begging them to leave him alone.
"Not if we strictly follow the rules of time travel. That means no talking to our past selves, no betting on sporting events..."
"I'm gonna stop you right there, Scott. Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on Back To The Future?" Tony asks in disbelief, and I can tell he's probably thinking of Peter who always used movies as his references.
Scott looks around nervously obviously embarrassed, and he drops his head mumbling, "No..."
However Tony doesn't look like he believes him. "Good. You had me worried there. 'Cause that'd be horse shit. That's not how quantum physics works." But if Peter would've said that he would have been a genius, and I can't help but smile sadly thinking that.
"Tony... We have to take a stand." Nat tries to plead
"I'm pretty sure we already did that..." I mumble letting all of them see my eye roll. Tony nods in agreement pointing to me as he continues. "We did. And yet, here we are."
