Chapter Seventeen

** Tinashe POV **

                    ** 3 Days Later **

Today is the day that I meet with my lawyer . Shes gonna tell me how much time he will get if the judge / jury pleads him guilty

I'm a little bit nervous about this

I know what I'm doing is so wrong ! But what can I say ? Not everyday does this happens to someone , especially someone from my neighborhood

My mother has been sick with cancer for 6 months && my family can't afford to pay for medicine so the doctors are trying to pull the plug soon

My mother is the only workin person in my family , I have 14 siblings 8 brothers , 6 sisters , && half of my brothers in jail for selling dope , && my sisters ... Don't even get me started ! So yeah times have been hard

I walk into my lawyers office

" Hi Miss Johnson " I said as I shook my lawyers hand

" Hello " She said

We sat down at her office && it was very quiet for a minute

" So if they plead him guilty , how much time will he get ? " I asked looking very anxious

She stared at me then took ah deep breath " They are gonna tear him down for the simple fact that he is a well known celebrity so I talked to the defense lawyer && if he's pleaded guilty , he will get 28 years "

My heart started pounding ! 28 years !?!?! This is not what I was expecting ! Maybe like 7 or 6 years but 28????! I don't know if I'm gonna be able to go through with this.

I shook my , got up && left

As I got in my car , I called my girl Regina . Regina is like my little sister && she also they only person who knows about this

When she picked up the phone , I asked her if I could come over for a little bit && talk to her

" Yeah girl come on over ! " She said

I hurried up && went to her house .

When I got there , I didn't even wait for her to open the door , I just busted in crying my eyes out !

" Girl what's wrong ? " Regina asked me looking confused

" If he's found guilty , they are gonna give him 28 years ! This is not what I was expecting " I said crying into regina's chest

" Umm okay girl and ? That's his problem he's the one in jail not you && you getting paid ! This money is gonna help keep your mom alive && get you on your feet so why you trippin ? " She asked

" Its much more than that ! This will ruin his life ! He will never get to watch his baby girl grow up && he will never get to teach her about all the things a father should teach his baby girl ! You grew up with both of your parents Regina okay , my dad walked out on my mom when I was 4 months old ! I know what its like to grow up without a father && it SUCKS this isn't right Regina && you know it ! " I screamed at her

She looked down at her feet

" Your right Tinashe this isn't right && no money in the world is worth doing this , I think you need to do the right thing " She said to me

I took a deep breath " Yeah your right " I said to her

I ran out the house && drove to the church

As I walked into the church , I saw Pastor Watkins was sitting up in the pulpit reading his bible 

" I need to talk to you " I said very nervously

" Can't it wait Tinashe ? " He asked looking up at me

I didn't know how to say it so I just let it all out

" NO it cannot wait ! I'm sorry pastor I can't do it ! I don't care how much money you pay me I will not a innocent man go to jail for 28 YEARS just because your mad that he got your daughter pregnant its not right && you would think a man of god would know that ! " I screamed at him

He closed his bible && just stared at me

" I'm serious , I can't do this ! " I screamed at him

He stared at me very coldly " Your making a big mistake " He said very softly

" I don't care you can do whatever to me but I'm not doing it " I said nervously

He stood up && left the room . I was kinda nervous but I ran outside && drove home
