Isaac and Alex - Book 2

Eighteen...

Isaac sucked in his breath as he watched from a distance as Jacob's bedroom light flicked twice. They headed straight towards the gym where Isaac met up with Jacob. Jacob grabbed Isaac's upper arm.

"Remember our promise" he reminded him and Isaac nodded.

They found Erastus in the now empty room all tied up. There was no doubt it was a trap but yet Isaac proceeded to untie him as he waited in anticipation.

"I knew you would not come alone" Nick said " Just as I knew you would come in the first place. At least I have one loyal son" Eric dragged Jacob in and Nick shrugged "Or maybe not" he said as he glanced at Jacob.

Alex searched in the study until she found a fridge disguised as part of the bookshelf with the green liquid and next to it an empty suitcase. She stuffed the viles in the suitcase but as she was about to leave Olivia appeared in the doorway.

"I can't let you leave with that" she said "Daddy won't be too happy"

Alex snorted.

"Look, I don't want to hurt you"

Olivia held up her fists.

"Try not to hold back" she let out as she glanced at Alex. Before Alex could comprehend she was lying on her back. Olivia was fast and consistent like she practiced all her life. Must be an Ezra thing Alex thought.

Isaac's eyes narrowed as he glared at Nick. His fists trembled at his side.

"I live by a code" Nick said "A man needs to live by something. For me its the promise my family made many years ago to rid the city of all that is not human"

"I can't let you hurt Isaac and Alex" Jacob let out as he came to stand beside Isaac "it's not right"

"Not right?" Nick snorted "NOT RIGHT?" He shifted and bit down on his teeth "Not right is my mother dying by the hands of a vampire!"

"Did you actually see it or was it a story grandfather Fed you?" Jacob cut back.

Nick approached. "He would not lie"

Jacob shrugged.

"I don't know. It seems to be an Ezra thing to lie and deceive" he replied.

"And that is why you will always be the son I wish I did not have"

Jacob's lips parted at his father's words and before he had time to reflect on his emotions his arm swung through the  air and his fist landed against his father's jaw. Within moments Nick striked his son back with a fist in his stomach making him tumble over. Eric had his arms around Isaac in a bear hug. Isaac leaned forward and howled as he transformed.

Alex paused at Isaac's howl giving Olivia the advantage of gripping one arm behind her back and the other around her neck.

"Here's something you don't know about me" she said in Alex's  ear "I didn't miss my calling sis. I am as pure a witch as they come. Now listen carefully"

Alex felt her body going limp and Olivia's words like a echo from far a way. The room around her spinned and she was losing focus. Her head touched the floor before everything went dark in front of her eyes. Her last blurry vision was of Olivia leaving with the suitcase in her hand.

Outside the Ezra house Lisa and Elizabeth faced off with the hunters.

"I can keep them back" Elizabeth hissed "You can get Erastus"

Lisa nodded and ran inside down the hall to the room where Jacob was fighting with Eric and Nick confronted Isaac.

"Now you could have been the son I wanted to have"

Isaac shook his head once.

"I had a father a shifty one but I had one who made me see the difference between right and wrong"

Nick snorted.

"And yet you slept under the same roof of your enemy"

Isaac nodded

"Because I'm gullible and not perfect but I try to do the right thing"

"Even if it kills you? Or her, Alex"

At the mention of her name Isaac trembled and Nick smiled knowing he touched his son's weakness.

Isaac launched at him but Nick was fast and swift and Isaac gasped as he felt something sharp through his shoulder. Isaac threw back his head and howled.

Alex's eyes flung open at the sound on Isaac's howl. She got up and started running towards the gym, her instinct to get to Isaac.

Isaac glanced back at Nick smiling but then he stopped smiling and sank down in his knees. Lisa pulled out a empty syring from his neck and Nick thudded on the floor.

Lisa rushed toward a Isaac.

"Alex" he let out.

She pulled out the knife letting him howl in pain. She assessed the weapon and smiled relieved.

"Its just a normal knife" she said "You'll heal fast" she put his one arm around her neck and helped him up just in time to witness Jacob landing a blow at Eric's jaw leaving him lights out as he thudded on the floor. He looked back as his father on the floor and his eyes widened as he rushed towards him.

"Its a sedative" Lisa said and bit her bottom lip as she saw the relief on Jacob's face.

Elizabeth rushed down the hall and paused. Alex pushed past her and paused when her eyes met Isaac, he removed his arm around Lisa's neck. Alex rushed towards him and he wrapped his arms around her pressing kisses on her forehead as he sighed relieved. They let go and looked at Nick on the floor.

"I couldn't get the serum" Alex said disappointed "It turned out Olivia is a witch" she glanced at Jacob when she said that. He shrugged and then snorted.

"It seems like I did not know my family that well" he let out flinching.

Elizabeth paused at the doorway and glanced at Nick on the floor.

"All he ever wanted was revenge for his mother. A revenge inflicted by his father which I thought was a little absurd so I did my own digging. Nick's father was denied immortality and it was his way of dealing with rejection-getting even. It is still unclear how Nick's mother died given the fact that his father found the body"

All eyes were fixed on Elizabeth as she spoke.

"Nick's father experimented with cancer cells, he was a scientist. He wanted to create his own vampire venom and when that failed he worked on destroying the cells. Nick took over and they created the green serum when taken destroys the vampire and werewolf cells but in the process kills the victim. The serum itself acts as cancer cells for the supernatural where death is guaranteed instantly"

Elizabeth looked at Jacob.

"Then only way to deal with a hunter is to make him the hunted"

Jacob lifted his eyebrows confused then gasped. He sank to his knees as Lisa pulled an empty syringe from his neck. His eyes closed as he lay down on the floor next to his father.

"What are you doing?" Isaac asked confused and his upper arm was pulled back in a firm grip. He glanced back at Flint Barry holding him and Erastus standing beside him.

"Go home Isaac" Erastus let out. "We will take care of this"

Isaac shook his head.

"No" he said "I promised Jacob his father will not be hurt"

"And he will not" Erastus said

"We need to question him" Lisa said "We can't do that with Jacob chipping in. We will lock Jacob in his room until we are done with Nick"

Alex pulled on Isaac's upper arm urging him to go and on that basis they left.
