*Nine Years Later*
I looked over to the passenger seat to see Abi sleeping on the window. Her eyelashes were so long that they were practically hitting the window pane and her brown almost blonde hair fell in long waves over her face. It was amazing to think, even after nine years, she was the only family I had left. I had lost everyone else. My parents, brothers, and other sister. All because of a plane crash.
I felt worse for Abi than for myself because all the family she had known in her life were me and my aunt, and that's not the best influences. I tried my best to keep her safe and fine but it didn't work while we lived so far away and with that woman.
My aunt abused us all eight years we stayed with her, and now she was in jail; thank god. Agent Teyha helped us win the court case and get away from her. I also had her to thank for the fact that I was gong home for my junior year in High School. Abi and I had been put in foster care for a year while she worked towards me getting custody of Abi two years early than I should have and being able to recieve everything my parents left me in their will once I hit 18.
We were currently driving back to our family house. I hadn't been there since I was seven, prior to the crash. No one had been there except to but everything in a storage locker. I wouldn't let them sell it or anything in it, it had been left to me anyway. There was no mortgage left. My mom had an amazing singing voice, which I had inherited, and made a fortune through singing. I would be able to get me and Abi through University and a few years past that with the money I got through her will.
I heard Abi move so I looked back over at her and saw her big bright eyes staring at me. God she looked like our mother.
"Ren? Are we almost there?" She asked. She of course remembered nothing about the house but she was still itching to get home, just like me.
"We are almost there squirt. About 20 minutes and we'll be pulling into the drive way." I smiled at her quickly again.
"Good. I don't want you falling asleep behind the wheels. I can't lose you too." I sensed her get upset, as she did whenever she thought about losing me. She didn't even know what she had lost but she cared so much about it. She was so mature for her age. She had just turned 10. God, I was getting old.
I pulled up in front of my childhood home. It looked exactly the same, but the ginormous yard seemed to have shrunk. It might have been the fact I was older and didn't see it as a place for adventure anymore.
I got out and walked up to Abi who had already walked to the front of the car I placed my arms around her. "Welcome home squirt." I said before pushing her towards the front door.
"Do we have to go to school tomorrow?" Abi whined as we sat on the floor eating chinese food which I had ordered for dinner. "I mean, we can finish painting and furnishing the house and just start like a week late!"
She had her long hair in a messy bun that mimicked my dark brown hair perfectly. She was also wearing the cutest overall which was the total oppisite from my completely black outfit.
"We have to Abs." I said laughing. "You're going to be the new girl so you need to meet friends the first day. It's a nice school, trust me. I went there when I was in grade one and two."
"But you had Elena there with you! You knew each other forever before you started school!" That reminded me. I hadn't spoken to Elena in over a year and a half. Hopefully she was still at school. She was my best friend, I can't believe we hadn't spoken. "I have no one... I'm all alone." Abi kept complaining.
"Do you want me to come with you all day? You can be known as the girl who can't be without her big sister?"
"No!" She squealed. I practically choked on my ginger beef.
"Alright then." I put down my food. "Now finish eating, we need to blow up the matresses."
"Why can't we have beds?" She whined.
"We'll go looking for furniture tomorrow after school. We need to finish everything else before we can furnish this place!"
"Alright.." She sighed before she continued eating.
I pulled into the high school parking lot. I came early because I expected a fight from Abi but she just got right out of the car and started towards the elementary school which was next door. "You coming?" She yelled at me. "You need to come and complete the registration!"
I got out and followed her to the school's office. I signed a few papers and then walked to my school to do the same. I looked at my schedule and saw English as my first class. This would be an experience to see everyone after this long. I looked different too, I had matured an extreme amout in the nine years in both my looks and personality. I'd had no choice in either.
I walked to the English room right as the first bell rang. I saw Elena in the back corner but chose to sit at the front because she had people sitting all around her. Once I sat down a very attractive young man with bright blue eyes and perfectly placed hair walked in.
"Hello students." He said in an extremely attractive voice. "I'm Mr. Tomlinson."
