Life Turns On a Dime

Chapter four

It had been two weeks. I decided to stay in Mr. Tomlinson's class, I had gotten attached. He was extremely attractive and really good at teaching, I must say. If I had left his class I would've regretted it.

I had made some friends at school, some of which I knew from when I was younger. Elena ignored me still though, she always said I didn't want her as a friend. She wasn't good enough for someone like me, someone who had such a bright future.

We had just gotten Abi a cell phone yesterday, and she was now constantly texting a guy from school. I always teased her for having a crush and she got really annoyed. She said she didn't but I didn't believe her. They were always talking and together, who was I to judge though? I had a crush on the teacher... She also texted a couple of girls, so at least she was making friends.

It was like 9 on a friday night and Abi came waltzing out of her room in her PJs. "Can I go to the movies with Chad tomorrow?"

"Is this a date?" I questioned teasingly.

"Maybe..." She blushed.

"Yeah, of course you can Abs." I said as the doorbell rang. "Now go to bed... Night Squirt," I said as I went to answer the door. I wasn't expecting what I saw on the other side.

"What happened?" I asked the guy who had rang the bell.

"I don't know, but she told me that she lived here. Is that incorrect?" He inquired back.

I looked down at Elena's tattered clothes and bruised body. "No, no, her room is right over there." I pointed to my bedroom door. "Just go put her on the bed."

"Okay," he said and did as he was told. "I'm Liam by the way" he said as I followed him.

"Reenee..." I said before looking at Elena again.

"I saw her in an ally way like this, I'm guessing she was jumped, so I picked her up and asked where she lives. She told me this address so I brought her here. She also told me her name was Elena."

"Yeah, that is her name." Why'd she give him my address? She lived over four blocks away. "Thanks for the help..." I said turning to face him.

"No problem, I don't really know how to get home, would you mind giving me some directions?" I must've been giving him a strange look because he quickly added "I'm new to town. We moved here two days ago."

"Ohh," I said. "Where exactly do you live?" He pulled out his phone and showed me an address. "Okay, well that's not very far from here. Just turn right out of the driveway, go to the end of the road, turn left, drive ten minutes and you'll find your street somewhere around there."

"Thank you, would you mind if I came back tomorrow to check on her?"

"Yeah, sure, no problem." I said.

"Also, she said no hospitals..."

"Okay, thanks Liam." I followed him out to the door. "Bye."

"See ya." He sad and he was gone. I went back into my room and stripped Elena to her underwear. I cleaned all the cuts I could see and put some pyjamas on her before laying down on the couch and falling asleep.

 I dropped Abi off at the cinema around noon and then came home to Elena sitting on the couch.

"Good morning." I said as I went to the kitchen to brew a cup of cocoa.

"I'm sorry for telling him your addres, I just didn't want to go home and have my parents see me like this..."

"I'll forgive you on one condition, who did this to you?"

"I think you know who..."

"McKinley?" I asked shocked. The girl was small, how could she cause this much damage?

"Not her specifically, but you know..."

"Don't let her give you shit Elena! You don't deserve that."

"Well a lot happened after you left Ren..." Her using my old nick name hit me hard. "I'm not the same girl you knew."

"You're still my best friend." I nearly screamed back. "I may have left and you may have cahnged but so have I, so we have a lot to catch up on... that's all that means."

She was about to respond but the doorbell interrupted her. "I'll be right back." I said as I went to get the door.

"Hey," Liam said shyly from the other side. "Umm... My friends kind of came with me but they can just stay in the car."

"No, no, they can come in. Not a problem," I said. Liam motioned for them to get out of the car. I lead him inside. "Elena!" I called. "Your knight in shining armour is here to make sure you're alright!" I turned around just in time to see Liam blush. All of his friends started laughing.

I decided to look over at them and saw three guys from school, their names were Niall, Zayn and Harry if I remembered correctly. They were all a year ahead of me in Elena's grade. The forth person shocked me though.

"Mr. Tomlinson?" I asked awestruck looking at my teacher with skinny khakis, a white t-shirt and suspenders on.

"Reenee?" He said back, also obviously shocked to see me.
