hudson / Please, sweetheart. Stay with me. You make me feel alive and like I belong. I love you.- -
I didn't go to school the next day. I told Janice I wasn't feeling well, and she believed me. All day, while no one was home, I kept a pack of frozen peas on my face.
This is the only type of love I know.
I ignored Hudson for the day; all of his messages and calls. I didn't want to hear from him, today.
The doorbell dragged me away from the TV, and I got off of the couch. I left the peas on the couch, and walked to the door.
Fear overcame me again, as I saw Hudson through the peephole. It was lunch hour, so this is probably why he's here.
I opened the door and looked at him. His eyes were puffy and his hands were behind his back.
"What do you want?" I asked lowly.
He looked at my face and when he saw the bruise, his face dropped more.
"I'm so sorry, sweetheart. I just blacked out. I would never hurt you, intentionally." He said putting his hand through his hair.
"You hit me, Hudson. Regardless, I shouldn't have opened the door for you." I sniffed my nose.
"I-I got these for you." He pulled out a bouquet of sunflowers and a box of chocolates.
"Your materialistic ideas of apologies won't make me forgive you so easily." I folded my arms.
"Please, sweetheart. I know what I did was wrong, but you went through my things without permission."
"And I found hardcore drugs. You need help, Hudson."
"Please, don't leave me. I'll get better, I'll be better; only if it meant having you." He wrapped his arms around my waist, begging.
"Hudson-"
"Please, sweetheart. I made a mistake I know was wrong. So did you."
Tears began to run down my face, realizing we were both in the wrong. This made us sort of even?
"One last chance." I gave in, hugging him back.
"Thank you, thank you! I love you so much." He looked me down in my eyes and kissed my lips.
He then looked at my bruise and kissed it lightly.
"I love you too." I said back with a light smile.

Saturday rolled around quickly, and the bruise was better. Make up could now fully cover it up. My excuse was that I fell off a rock at the beach. People actually believed it.
"Any Saturday plans, ladies?" Drew asked us at the breakfast table.
"Well, I was going to go hang out with Dylan." Andrea said as she shrugged.
"What about you, Brynn?" He asked me.
"I have to go finish up a project with Chase." I half smiled at him.
"Oh that's cool." He nodded.
"Sure is." I muttered with a laugh.
"Someone's birthday is next week." Janice waked into the dining room.
"Mom." Andrea smiled.
"My baby girl is going to be 17." She sarcastically wiped a tear.
"I can't believe it's already May next week. Where is this year going?" Drew chuckled.
"I know right." I laughed along.
"Can I have a spa getaway for my birthday, mom?" Andrea asked while clapping her hands.
"I don't know, Andy." Drew breathed in between his teeth and shrugged his shoulders.
"That would be amazing! Wouldn't it, mom?" I said with a smile, catching myself off guard while calling Janice "mom".
Janice's smile grew as she nodded,
"That will be amazing, sweetie."
"You called her mom." Andrea smiled.
"I did." I said with a small smile.
Andrea hugged me and smiled.
"You're becoming apart of the family." She whispered.
I couldn't help but smile as well, since I never called anyone mom that was alive.
"Actually, Brynn. Drew, Andrea, and I have been thinking." Janice sat down next to Drew, pitting her hand in his.
"We were wondering, how would you feel if we were to legally adopt you?" Drew asked with a smile across his face.
I felt tears start to enter my eyes, and a smile approach my lips.
"You want me?" I said, in barely a whisper.
"It will take a month to be finalized, but yes. We want you to fully become apart of our family." Janice smiled, a tear now falling down her cheek.
"How would you like to become Brynn Walker-Morrison?" Andrea smiled and held my hand.
"I would love that." I smiled, tears now escaping my eyes.
They all got up and hugged me, and I hugged them back.
"We love you, Brynn." Janice said, and I could feel myself sob more.
I never had a truly loving family, but now I will.
I couldn't have been more happier in this moment, then ever.
