Dinahs POV

Wow my heart was racing. I can't believe me and Normani have a date tomorrow! I went to my messages and excitedly texted Lauren my good news.

finahjane: LAUR GUESS WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!!

greeneyes: WHAT? WHOSE ASS I NEED TO BEAT?

finahjane: settle down laur you don't need to beat anyones ass lmao, but I may or may not have a date with Normani out tomorrow night....

greeneyes: OMG DINAH JANE HAS A DATE! I GOT TO TEXT CAMZ

I just laughed and said goodnight before closing my eyes and slowly drifting off thinking about the goddess.

I woke up the next day with a smile on my face knowing that I would be seeing her today. I got out of bed and did my normal routine and then I went downstairs to be greeted by my mom and regina.

"morning." I said as I kissed my mom and sister on the cheek.

"Morning honey do you want some French toast and bacon?"

"Actually me and Lauren were meeting up before school with Camila." right as I said that I hear a car horn and roll my eyes knowing its Lauren. I make my way out the door as I said goodbye to my family.

" what up hot stuff." I hear Lauren say as I get in the car.

" don't you have a girlfriend?" I joked as I reached over and gave her a hug.

"She don't have to know babe." she nudged my arm, I looked at her and we both bursted out laughing.

"So you ready for your date with your boo?"

"Yes and she's not my boo." I said as I looked out the window. "yet" I mumbled.

We pulled into the parking lot and saw Camila waiting for us by the school doors. She came over to us and gave Lauren a hug and a kiss. I looked away looking for a certain dark skin goddess. I saw her making her way over to us with ally.

"Hey guys" she said once she reached us. She looked over at me and winked at me. I smiled and brought her in for a hug, as I'm hugging her I hear her cry in pain.

"mani did I hurt you? I'm so sorry." I said as I examined her and that's when I realized the bruise on her face. "what the hell happened to your face normani?"

"I um have to get to class." she hurried off. Something is happening with her and I will find out who did that to her. once I made it to class I didn't see Norman in there.

dinahjane97: babe are you okay? I shouldn't have asked about what happened if that's what made you upset I'm sorry.

normanikordei: dj its fine. its just a sensitive subject to talk about.

dinahjane97: I'm here for you when you are ready to talk. Are we still on for our date? I noticed you weren't in class.

normanikodei: thank you and ofc we are still on ;)

How stupid am I. I was running late this morning so I forgot to cover up the bruise on my face. I should have know Dinah of all people would see it. I'm not ready for her to know how messed up I am. I'm currently making my way to the Starbucks on the corner for mine and Dinahs date. when I get in I looked around to see if she is already her, I looked towards the back and see a head full of blonde hair. I smiled and made my way over to her.

"hey pretty lady." I said as I sit down.

"hello beautiful" she said with a big smile.

"How was your day?"

"terrible." she said with a pout on her lips that I wanted to kiss away so bad.

"how come babes." I say and grab her hand running my thumb on the back softly.

"because I didn't get to see this beautiful face all day." I blushed at her words.

*skip date*

Dinah was walking me home, she had her arm draped around my waist. We reached my door and now we were standing in front of each other.

"I had a good time with you Dinah, again." I laughed as I looked up at her.

" Me too normani." she looked down at my lips and then back up at my eyes. "is it okay if I um kiss you?"

"You don't need to ask baby." I leaned in and our lips met. There was no rush it was just a simple kiss unlike the other night. We were interrupted by my front door flying open and my dad yelling at me to get my ass in the house. I turned to Dinah and she had a looked that looked like she was scared but also pissed. I hurried into the house and closed the door behind me.

" where the fuck have you been all night!" he yelled as soon as the door closed.

"I was with my friend getting some food after school." I felt myself being rushed to the ground.

"You ungrateful little bitch." punch. " what did I tell you about going out all night." kick. "you should be dead instead of your mother." He yelled as he hit me harder. I laid there taking every hit until he stopped.

"Get your ass off my floor before I kill you." I got up as best as I could and made my way upstairs. I'm such a disappointment. Why am I still alive instead of my mom. I wish it was me instead of you mom. I fell asleep crying and thinking about how I shouldn't be alive.
