Chapter 12

I woke up to my phone ringing, I ignore it the first time but then it starts ringing again. Sighing I decided to see who it was that was disturbing my sleep at 2:30 in the morning.

"Hello?" I said in my raspy sleep voice.

"Dinah." I hear someone cry through the phone, mani.

"Mani baby whats wrong? Are you okay?" I sat up quickly.

"Dinah I-I need you to come get me. Please" I started throwing my shoes on, tripping over my feet .

"I'm on my way babe, are you okay?" I asked her as I got in the car quickly backing out of my driveway.

AN: I forgot if I said dinah drives or not but now she is lol

"No.....Dinah please hurry." Just then I heard bangging on what I'm assuming is her bedroom door.

"Normani get your ass out here so I can beat you some more."

"Mani who is that? Is that your dad?" I asked shocked at what I'm hearing.

"Yes. Are you here yet dinah he's about to kick the door in." she cried.

" I'm pulling into the driveway now. Do you want me to come in and get you?" I heard moving around.

"No come to my window on the side of the house." she said before the line went dead.

I made my way over to the side of her house and see her opening the window.

"Catch my bag." I did as I was told then looked back up at her. "Now catch me."

" What no mani what if I drop you."

"I trust you dinah now catch me." she said as she jumped out the window into my arms.

We both fell to the ground but I quickly got up and made sure she was okay. Once I saw that she wasn't hurt from the jump we ran to the car, we rode back to my house in silence, I would glance over at her to make sure she was okay but all I saw was tears streaming down her cheeks. Once we got up to my room I saw how badly she was hurt.

"Mani?" I called to get her attention. She turned and looked at me with so much pain in her face. She ran into my arms and cried.

"Shhhh I got you now baby he wont hurt you anymore." I said as I rubbed soothing circles on her back. Once she finally calmed down she told me everything that happen, from when the abuse started till tonight.

"How about I get a nice hot bath started for you" I asked. She shook her head as she gripped my shirt.

"Can we just cuddle please? That's all I want." she said as her eyes started to tear up again.

I sigh as I wrapped my arms around her waist. I knew she fell asleep when I heard her soft snores and the hand that was gripping my shirt go limp. My poor baby has been through so much by herself, I just wish I could take it away.

-Later that morning- Manis POV

I woke up in so much pain, my arms felt heavier, my ribs hurt, my head is throbbing, and I just feel like death. I shift lightly and notice dinah isn't in the bed with me.

"Dinah?" I called out. No response. I started tearing up.

"Dinah?" I called one more time. Still nothing.

I get up and walk down stairs with tears streaming down my face. I reach the kitchen and see dinah with her headphones in while eating cereal. I ran over to her and threw myself into her despite the pain I was feeling.

"Shit mani, whats wrong babe?" She asked once she saw my face.

"I was calling for y-ou and you didn't respond s-s-so I thought you left me." I sobbed into her.

"Of course not baby. I was just eating something to eat and I couldn't hear you over my music, I would never leave you." She said as she kissed my head.

"Are you hungry?" She asked as she rubbed my back.

"Yes"

"Want me to make you some food?" I nod my head happily. She kissed me and then got up. I just sit there and think about what all just happened in the last hour, how I put up with my dad for so long, how dinah came and saved me, how I'm so lucky to have her, and how I love her so much....wait did I just say that I loved dinah!? My thoughts got interrupted by the girl on my mind.

"Here you go baby." Dinah said as she handed me a plate with a sandwich and chips. She kissed my head then sat next to me. I went to take a bit out of my sandwich and I guess she saw me close my eyes in pain.

"Are you still in a lot of pain?"

"Yeah it's about the same as earlier." I said as I put a chip in my mouth.

"Do you think we should go to the hospital to make sure theres no serious damage?" She asked concern laced in her voice.

"I don't need too." I keep my eyes on my plate as I push around the chips.

"Mani baby I would never push you to do something you don't want to do but you can barley lift your arms without having to stop and wait for the pain to go away." She said.

"I'm fine." I sighed out getting annoyed with this conversation already. I just want this whole night to be over with and be able to move on with my life.

"Baby-"

"I said I'm fine dinah damn." I yelled pushing my plate away causing it to fall to the floor and shatter.

We sat there for a few seconds before she got up and left the room, when she returned she had the broom and dustpan. She swept up my mess and then dumped it in the trash. She walked back out and this time she didn't return.

I sigh and make my way up the stairs. When I reach her bedroom I see her collecting her things to take a shower. I walk up the her and wrap my arms around her waist. She stopped her movements and wrapped her arms around me too.

"I didn't mean to yell at you. I'm just so tired of living this life,I don't want to talk about this anymore I want it to be done. But I will go get checked if that will make you feel better." I said looking up into my favorite pair of brown eyes.

"I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have kept on when you first said you were fine but I will do whatever you want to do." She kissed me on the lips then pulled back and smiled at me. I smiled back and kissed her again.

"Were you about to shower?" I asked even though I knew the answer.

"Yep. Care to join?" she asked me.

"I would love to." I smiled at her.

After our shower we cuddled in bed until we fell asleep. This night ended happy after all.
