Ironhide half dragged, half supported Jay to Ratchet, who taking cover behind a building.
"Ratchet, look who I found."
The medic glanced over to see the young cybertronian half laying on the weapons specialist and the lubricants leaking from his optics.
He immediately pulled the mutant off of Ironhide, sitting him gently against the wall. After explaining to Ironhide the situation with the Decepticons, Ratchet turned to take care of Jay.
"You could have been seriously hurt." Ratchet scolded, welding a piece of scrap metal over the wound. "I thought you were supposed to with Sam."
"I was." Jay whimpered, wincing as the welder melted the metal together.
"Then why aren't you now?"
"There was a Decepticon chasing us." Jay defended, "so I led him away from Sam."
Ratchet sighed heavily, blinking his optics. "Just, be careful next time. As you said, you cannot fight."
Jay sighed, leaning against the wall behind him. "Yeah, I know Ratchet."
The medic sat back with a satisfied look. "Okay, that should hold for now until I get proper equipment, just be careful."
Jay nodded. "Yes, I know. I'll be careful."
Ratchet stood up, pulling Jay up gently with him.
He glanced around the corner to see what was happening, seeing nobody around. "Okay, let's move. We should find Ironhide, or the human soldiers at the least."Jay gripped Ratchets servo tightly, feeling nervous about going in the open, but pushed past the feeling. He needed to find Sam.
Ratchet pulled Jay along behind him, swiftly turning corner to follow the gunshots.
A turn revealed Ironhide stomping on some sort of little robot. "Pit-spawned mini-cons."
"Ironhide." The Autobot medic called, "Have you heard from Optimus?"
Ironhide shook his helm, turning to face the two Cybertronians. "No. Primes been quiet. So has Bumblebee and Jazz."
Ratchet shook his head. "We should find the others."
Ironhide agreed with medic, leading them off down the street. Jay followed quietly, feeling out of place. He wasn't technically an Autobot, and he'd only been Cybertronian for a few hours; Jay felt more of a distraction than help.
The three showed up by the human soldiers taking down a Decepticon. Jay was shocked to see how fluidly they worked together in taking down the 'Con; and slightly afraid since they took him down so easily.
The leader turned to see the trio. "Hey! Ratchet, right? Bumblebee needs help."
He pointed over at an alleyway where Bee was sitting on a pickup truck, still with no legs. Ratchet rushed over to the scout, leaving Ironhide and Jay. The weapons specialist went to take down more Decepticons, leaving Jay standing awkwardly.
The main soldier's walkie-talkie buzzed loudly, panicked voices coming through.
"We've got the boy."
There was loud whistling in the background followed by Sam yelling to get back. This caught Jay's attention, listening more intently.
"Missile."
Jay's blood ran cold when he heard the explosion in the distance
He glanced around at everyone, seeing the panic and short-lasting grief hardened over by determination.
