I just wanted a book, and so I snuck off in the direction of the library. The halls were silent, eerily silent.

This would've been much easier if I just ask Alice to bring me a book.

But I didn't know if she'd ever come back after that stunt she pulled. And besides, she was probably with Edwin somewhere. And Romeo was hopefully in his office or better yet not in the house. But he'd tell me if he was to leave suddenly, I thought back to the note he left me just before I planned my escape.

I shake the thought away. The house sounded empty, but didn't feel that way. My heart raced with every turn I took with every hall. I felt small, tiny in such a big house, and the exhilaration of sneaking around in it made me feel present. It made me realize just how big Romeo's house really was.

This is crazy. My mind thought. And it was right, so why exactly was I doing this? It's not like I no longer feared Romeo or what he might do, but apart of me was getting tired, really tired of waking up everyday in that same room with nothing to do.

And I desperately needed an escape, and that escape was reading. I wanted to forget reality for just a moment and live in someone else's shoes. I wanted to feel distracted. And the thought sounded crazy, but it's what I want.

After several minutes of tip-toeing and frantically turning around due to self paranoia, I neared the library entrance. If there was one thing I truly admired in this house of Romeo's, it was his library.

It was sectioned off in the west wing of the house, in a hall isolated completely by itself. It was almost like entering a whole new world. The doors of the library were gigantic, stained a bronze steel that gave the door a wood-like effect. I pull on the door and it creaks. I stop.

My breath hitches. The sound echoes through the house but I know the sound was o my amplified in my ears.

Cold air conditioning whisks at my face the moment I slip in. If it was possible, I would've just stayed there and lounge in a chair with a good novel. But I was on punishment. And this was already dangerous.

Romeo's library was filled with genre options I didn't even know existed. His library consisted of three floors, but I didn't have time to explore all three floors. Hastily I make my way across the room to a book series I had read but not finished yet.

"The Broken King"

In total, the series contained five books, and I was currently on book number three. It's about a story set back in the 18th century.

King Adonis, the king of France, has all that anyone could ever dream of. Money, looks, and power. Except he lacks the one thing he needs most, love. His heart is stone cold, and for that he is cursed to be forever lonely. With a empty heart, anger and hate fill up the place that should be most fond. No stays around him, because no one can tolerate him. His hate radiates, his anger arrogates his emotions. And so he decides to pay for his desired company. A beautiful village girl in his kingdom named, Roselyn. Roselyn comes from a generation of impoverished people. So when the King offers her payment in exchange for her company, she takes the opportunity. But after a while of  staying with the king, Roselyn realizes that there's no amount of payment that could ever make someone tolerate King Adonis. King Adonis could never buy into Roselyn'a heart, for it was priceless.

It was a romance novel. One with deviating plot twists that would have any audience, flipping pages to find out what happens next. I grab the book. Suddenly the hair on the back of my neck stands up. Quickly, I turn around. My eyes widen and something drops in my stomach. I stagger back.
