Analysis Twenty-One

The muffled sounds of a girl struggling had gotten to the point where Levi would've killed her to shut her up, but he knew he couldn't do that. He didn't want Eren to hate him, not in the slightest, but if he didn't want that then what did he want from the brunette? This was the first time his mind had been so hazy and confused in his life, and this time without acting like it. Mina was starting to get out of control, so Levi took out his knife and stabbed her in the shoulder.

" If you don't shut up I swear to god I'll kill you! So if you want to see your beloved again then stop your cries for help, it's useless anyway."

The girl stopped moving and ceased her noises, but it was almost a bit too quiet and still. Levi went into an alleyway and laid the girl down on the ground, checking her pulse. She was still alive.

" Fainted on me huh? You sure are a damsel in distress alright, just promise me not to give me a scare like that again."

Levi sighed and walked over to the opening of the alleyway and looked around to make sure no one saw them, and once he was sure no one did, he sat down next to the girl. He brought his knees close to his chest and allowed his mind to let loose. All the raven could think about was what Eren might think of him if he saw him again, and if there would even be a next time. He then started to remember what caused him to turn into the killing machine he was now, and like Eren asked him, it did have something to do with his family.

Ever since Levi could remember, he knew something was different about him. His mother always told him that he was born special and that was why all the other kids picked on him, but her words weren't what he wanted to hear. He wanted to know the real reason why he was bullied and treated differently by the teachers at his school, but every time he asked his parents evaded the question at hand and asked how he was doing and other things of the sort. As he continued going to elementary school, he noticed that his thoughts were starting to display awful visions and so his daily trips to the nurses office began.

When he started attending his elementary school, he always thought to himself that he'd never have any real friends. He didn't see why he'd need them, but during his first grade year, that's when he met him. Eren Jaeger. He was the son of the famous doctor known in New York for his work in creating medicines and working at rehabilitation centers he built, and Levi knew this because he was a regular patient at one of Doctor Jaeger's hospitals. One day, Eren noticed him sitting by himself at one of the picnic tables on the playground of their school, so he decided to go and talk to him seeing as the brunette had seen him a few times at his father's hospital.

" Why are you by yourself?"

At first, Levi was a bit startled and wondered why this child was even talking to him. He kept his silence and listened to the boy.

" I see you sometimes at my dad's hospital. Are you sick?"

" ... I don't know what's wrong with me, my parents won't tell me the truth... I think the kids at this school have the wrong idea about me..." Levi answered the boy quietly.

" You bet they do! If you want, I could tell you what your parents won't, but only if you want to know."

" I do want to know! Please, tell me, what's wrong with me?"

" There's nothing wrong with you, all it is is that you think and feel differently about things than others. Other people have what you have, so you're not alone." The boy smiled and crouched down in front of the raven, " Say, do you want to be friends?"

Levi looked at the brunette in wonder, and it must've been at that point in time when the raven developed feelings towards the brunette. He was the one who protected him from the other kids, the one who would tell him what his parents wouldn't, and he was always honest with him. Eren was his getaway from all the messes his family had started to create once he started middle school. Levi was lucky to have all his classes with the brunette, but he started feeling like something had to change. Instead of Eren protecting him, he should be the one to step up his game and start protecting Eren. That's when she showed up.
