A Tale

"Ugh, she's heartsick lover. She almost got Gray killed!" Juvia heard a girl not so subtly whisper to her friend, not even caring that Juvia was right there and could hear her words loud and clear, "she's evil I heard. Natsu said she's gone back to her old ways like she was at Phantom Lord!" The girl said, legitimately scared of Juvia and what she might do.. those words and fear broke Juvia's heart as she had to hold herself back from running away..

"That reader always has her nose in a book. She almost killed her team.. poor Gajeel, Jet, Droy, and Pantherlily are lucky they made it out with their lives." Levy grimaced as she overhead a man talk about her as he walked by, "Erza said Levy is probably the weakest girl in the guild, even weaker then Wendy.." the man continued to his friend. Levy choked out a sob as she bit her fist as not to cry from hearing such cruel words come from a girl she once considered to be like a sister..

"How is she always such a smiler? Poor Lucy, she got kicked off team Natsu because she can't protect herself." Lucy perked up at the mention of her name and team Natsu, "Natsu replaced her with Lisanna apparently, said he wanted someone he didn't have to constantly worry about saving, and that it was a good riddance." The person continued as Lucy stared at the ground in defeat.. had Natsu really said such mean words? How could her once best friend act like she was nothing in this world?

But none of it was new.. the three girls had been hearing accusations and rumors like these for months now, yet, hearing them never seemed to get easier then the last time.. only more heart breaking as they were constantly reminded of their screw ups.. reminded Juvia that she had almost killed the man she loved most in this world.. reminded Levy that her best friends had almost perished because she wasn't strong enough to protect them.. and reminded Lucy that she had almost killed herself before Natsu arrived just in time to save her.. so they weren't as much 'rumors' as they were painful truths..

And the worst truth of all? That almost all of Fairy Tail had turned their backs on the three girls they once called family and friends.. the only people who even acknowledge them nowadays are the Strauss siblings, the Thunder Legion, Cana, Wendy, Happy, Charle, Master Makarov.. and Gray, which was a surprise to everyone to say the least, that he hadn't turned his back on Juvia because of a mistake.. like almost everyone else had..

But even with so many people on their side.. there were still so many more who hated their guts..

Lucy felt her hair being yanked back, and the smell of burning hair gave her one conclusion to who could be doing it..

"Natsu!" She yelled immediately, snapping Levy and Juvia out of their pity parties and into action, "Natsu what're you doing?! Stop it!" She cried as she tried to wriggle her hair out of his grip, finally succeeding after several tries.. but not before losing quite a few inches of hair to his flames.

Levy stepped forward and pushed Natsu, "what's your deal?!" She yelled at the salmon haired mage, who's only reaction was like he had just seen a bug, "what did Lucy ever do to you?!" She asked, Natsu made a 'tch' noise before winding his arm back and swinging it towards Levy's face. She barely had time to react before Natsu's hand went over her eyes and his flames burnt her skin, she screamed in pain, getting the attention of most everyone in the guild as they stared in horror and shock at what Natsu was doing.

"You all are weak." Natsu hissed as he pushed a crying and hysterical Levy back into the wall, she slumped down as she held her eyes in her hands.. nobody could see what her eyes now looked like, but judging by Levy's reaction.. it was not a good sight.

"Levy!" Pantherlily yelled out as he began to run towards his friend, he turned to see a disapproving Gajeel shake his head.. he quickly turned back to Levy and saw her trembling on the floor.. and against his better judgement, he ran over to help his friend.
