The teams for Midnight Serpents quickly ran to the balcony and looked out towards the city, most of them gasped when they realized they were rising higher and higher above the city, but it wasn't as much as a surprise for Levy, Juvia, and Lucy, who instead were more surprised by the giant ball-maze-thing hovering over Crocus.. it looked like an entirely new Sky Labyrinth.. much bigger then it was in the previous years and putting off much more magic power then they had ever felt before.. and in the center of even that, standing on top of the labyrinth, was the pumpkin man's hologram itself, Mato.

"Hello pumpkins! And welcome to this year's Grand Magic Games preliminary round!" Mato giggled as he waved his hands around excitedly, "as some of you can see, and as some of you can't, this right here is the all new, revamped, Sky Labyrinth 2.0!" He showed off, lacrimas appeared in the sky and showed previews of what they were to expect once they entered the large maze.. it appeared about the same as the original, only it was much larger, many more twists and turns, and many more surprises they presumed, judging by the magical power emitting from the structure itself.

"Remember! Just like previous years, the first eight teams to reach the end earn their spot in this years games!" Mato reminded them, as if they could forget that important bit of information, "but also, if you fall off the Labyrinth.. game over for you." He snickered as some of the mages who hadn't experienced a preliminary before went pale, wondering if they fell off what would save them from going splat on the ground.

Mato spun around as he looked at all the inns littering the sky now, "now, if there aren't anymore questions.. let the Grand Magic Games preliminary.. begin!" He yelled, his hologram disappeared, once it did they expected a rock path to appear to the Labyrinth like in the past years.. but none appeared. The teams all quickly realized this was one of the new surprises to the games, they had to figure out their own way to get to the Labyrinth before they could even think about making it to the end!

Lucy quickly turned to Juvia, "Amaya use your-." She began but was quickly cut off by Juvia using a spell.

"Already on it! Aerial levitation!" Juvia yelled as she began to levitate her and her team, Claire and Gabriel stared in wonder as their feet left the ground and Juvia directed them towards the Sky Labyrinth.

"Wait! What about us!?" Xavier called as he and his team were still left at the balcony, "levitate us too!" He pleaded as the group got farther and farther from the balcony and closer and closer to the Sky Labyrinth.

Levy laughed as she sat criss cross apple sauce, "it's every team for themselves, Xavier. Even if we are from the same guild." She called out before they were fully out of ear shot, they could still hear Xavier, but couldn't make out what his incoherent yelling was fully about.. other then being annoyed that they weren't helping each other out.

Gabriel looked down towards the city and gulped, turning a new shade of pale, "w-we're really high up!" He commented, flailing slightly like he was trying to hold onto something.. while they were currently floating through the middle of the air. The girls all sighed, of course on a team of mostly girls, the only boy was the most foolish one.. at least when it came to reality that is.

"I could drop you if you'd like." Juvia teased, the entire group burst out laughing at Gabriel's wide eyes and fearful shake of his head. As if Juvia would actually forfeit the games just for a quick laugh! Although it would be funny.. no, they had to actually be serious if they wanted to win the games this year.

After a few more second of floating Juvia let them down once they were at the Sky Labyrinth, "alright, which way?" She asked as the team looked around, they seemed to be the first ones at the Labyrinth.. but they also knew fully well that could just be a trick, and hundreds of guilds could already be here and they just didn't know it yet.
