Joseph Smith POV:"There's another doctor in there." One of the bodyguard said. I was weirded out by the news. I immediately opened the doors as I had a bad feeling.
"What are you doing to my patient?!" I yelled and that person dropped the syringe in fright. He randomly pulled out some plugs and the heart monitor started to beep faster and faster as the heart rate was getting irregular. He quickly dashed across me but I did not bother chasing after him. Elizabeth was my priority. I have to save her first. I raised my voice so the bodyguards outside could hear me telling them to catch that bastard. I pressed the emergency button and nurses started to rush in to assist me.
"CPR. Hurry prepare the defibrillator." I instructed.
"Yes, doctor." The nurse quickly pulled the defibrillator in and coat the defibrillator paddles with conductive gel.
"Patient, patient, can you hear me?" I tap her shoulders as I say. The nurse passed me the defibrillator paddles and I rubbed the paddles while I say: "Charge to 200 joules."
"Charged to 200 joules." The nurse replied.
"Stay clear! Shoot!" I said. I looked at my watch to count the time then I passed the paddles to the nurse and kneeled down on the side of the bed to perform CPR. I counted as I did the compressions and occasionally looking at the heart monitor.
"Please, Elizabeth, please."
"Elizabeth!" I recognised Christopher's voice and I could hear cries.
"Close the doors. Draw the curtains." I commanded.
"I'm sorry, sir but you cannot enter here. Please wait outside." The nurse said and closed the doors.
"Come on, Beth, please." I mumbled to myself.
"Defibrillator. Charge 300 joules." I said as the heart rate is still not going up.
"Charged 300 joules."
"Stay clear! Shoot!" I monitored the time with my watch again then I went to do compressions.
"Wake up, wake up, wake up!" I was getting distressed as I could hear the heart monitor. Soon, the monitor went flatline and the deadliest beep sound filled the room. I ignored the sound and continued to do compressions.
"Doctor Smith. It's time for you to announce the time of death." One of the nurse said.
"Joseph!" Dr Brown rushed in and called out for me.
"You will not give up Elizabeth Costa! You will wake up right now!" I shouted. My sweat flowed into my eyes. It stings yet I felt nothing. All I could think of now is to make her heart beat again.
"Joseph, enough is enough." Dr brown said firmly. I was desperate and frustrated. I used all my might to hit the place where I did the compressions. I hit once, then twice. My hand dropped to my side. I got off the bed and slowly raised my hand. I look at my watch. The door blast open with Christopher looking distraught with bloodshot eyes. Ella was already on the floor bawling her eyes out. Edward did not hold back his tears. I hear the cries of different people.
"Time of death:" I said dryly and paused. Just as I was about to announce the time, the heart monitor beeped again. My body was revived by hope. I immediately went to feel for her pulse.
"There's pulse. Intubation. Continue CPR." I directed. The once deadly room is now taken over by relief and hope. Once I was done with the intubation, I continued doing compressions until her heart rate stabilised. I then told the nurses to bring her for MRI scan.
