Christopher Fernández POV:

"You're early, Christopher." He said walking over.

"I'm actually on time." I said as I check my watch.

"Good business attitude. Where's the other person we're suppose to meet?"

"He'll be here soon."

"Here he is." I said and he turned to look.

"Whelan Fernández."

"Edward Costa." My dad say as he walked over to us.

"Long time no see my good ol' fella." Edward greeted.

"It's been a long time, Edward." My dad greeted as he patted Edward's shoulder.

"Let's settle and start the talk." My dad spoke.

"You two were buddies?" I asked.

"We're like brothers but we separated our ways after I moved to England." Edward replied.

"This is my son Ed."

"Well lucky you. It's really surprising after all these years, Christopher is actually your son." Edward smiled.

"I guess you know everything about me now." Edward say looking at me.

"Yes."

"Does Beth know about all these?" Edward asked.

"No, I didn't tell her. I have no position to tell her about the truth of you and I'm waiting for a chance to tell her about me."

"Well I didn't expect you to be the one taking over. It's dangerous, Christopher. Especially when you have loved ones."

"That's why we are here today, Ed. Your daughter would be in danger soon."

"Whelan, you know very well that if we were to join alliance, our kids have to be engaged."

"They will get married sooner or later. We need to make our mafia stronger. Richard has gained a lot of power since we laid back and live a normal life. No one expected him to be so greedy."

"My daughter don't know any of these. It'll just crush her life down."

"Richard that bastard is trying to take my assets and he thinks that Elizabeth is getting in the way."

"Edward, I know I don't have the power to assure you that I can and I will no matter what, protect your daughter. She means a lot to me and I would not want to let her go through all these shit."

Edward remained silent and closed his eyes.
I sighed and looked out of the window.

"Fine. However, after we put everything to an end, my family will not be involved in any of these shit anymore. I'll leave the mafia world for good."

"Ed, I would do the same thing as you. Both of us were forced to inherit the mafia by our fathers and now that we've run it for years, it's time for us to follow our wills and have a clean break from the mafia world. For now, just think of a way to do so before tragedy really happens."

"Whelan, you tell me how am I going to leave my men who have been following me since they turned into youths?"

"There are many ways, but there's one thing you should know. You don't have to leave them, you just have to get them out with you."
