Michael
We enter the theater and are greeted by the lady at the ticket counter. Luke buys the tickets without letting me see them. We stand in line for popcorn and Luke orders a large for us to share. He grabs my hand and I flinch slightly. He gives me a confused look but continues pulling me towards our movie.
"Disgusting fags." A man mutters under his breath from behind us. I pull my hand away from Luke's and put it at my side. He sends a glare my direction, but I continue to walk. We reach the entrance to the theater and Luke stops me before I go in.
"What the hell was that about?" He looked mad.
"Luke, that guy called us fags." I said while looking at the floor, holding back tears.
"Who the fuck cares? I'm your boyfriend and I can hold your hand if I want, it doesn't matter what some dumb asshole says."
"I know, but I'm just not ready to come out yet, I'm sorry." I was crying now, god I'm a baby.
Luke cupped my face with one hand and stroked my cheek softly. "It's ok Mikey, let's just have fun today, yeah?" He said calmly.
...
We were sitting in our seats for about ten minutes before the movie's beginning credits started playing. Big red letters spread across the screen joined with creepy music. 'ANNABELLE', it read out. I leaned over to whisper to Luke, "I didn't know we were seeing this, I hate scary movies."
"Aw, is little Mikey scared?" Luke looked pleased with himself.
"No." I huffed and slumped back down into my seat.
Luke
Yeah, so maybe I did purposefully take us to a scary movie so I could cuddle with Mikey. Evey time a scary part would come on, he would jump slightly and grab onto my arm, but then try to play it off like he wasn't scared. It was actually so fucking cute. By the end of the movie he had his face hidden in the crook of my neck, trying to block out the screen. Everyone had left the theater already, but we were still sitting there. As much as I wanted to stay there cuddled up with him forever, we had to leave. I shook his head off of me and he whimpered.
"Mikey, the movie's over, you don't have to be scared anymore."
"I wasn't scared." He folded his arms.
"Right." I roll my eyes.
We walk out of the theater and into the parking lot. It's dark outside but I'm not sure what time it is. I start to drive Mikey home and we don't say much in the car. I pull up in front of his house. I lean over to his side of the car and plant a quick kiss on his lips.
"Goodnight Mikey." He smiles and climbs out of the car. I watch him walk up his driveway and on to his porch. He turns around and waves at me before going inside.
I'm sure now that I love this boy, and strangely I'm okay with that.
I do not agree at all with using harsh words like fag. This was just for the story. And I'm sorry but if you're homophobic I don't even want to talk to you.
